New game in the works using Quake III material

There is a game in the works called REFLEX which if you look at their early video is clearly a conversion from Quake III but they are making it their own. Is this right in your opinion?

If it is indeed a total conversion, they have a lot to do. That means all models, textures, sounds, and other copywritten material has to be replaced. Which means they will be using q3 codebase as a start and a GPL engine (don't know much at all about q3 content and engines, but ownership laws are universal ), which isn't a problem (that's what we do here at q1) .

So unless they are in VERY early stages, they'd better just ship that as a mod with no copywritten material or they'll find themselves in hot water I imagine.

That video shows CPM(A) which is a Q3 mod. Reflex is a standalone game. The video illustrates the mod that Reflex wants to built upon. The video does not show Reflex.

O got ya there spirit.

I seen it on the Reflex page so I figure it was the game. He is the same one that was making a badass looking ranger model back in the day and quit the project to work on Reflex. The game it'self looks fast and action packed from just the little bit of development I have seen but now looking back I noticed the actual Reflex game itself uses different guns.

ya i keep forgetting about Warsow. I remember playing it long long ago when they were still developing it, but I never got any good Though, even at 100+ ping it does feel smooth..
