  • How do I feed to a master server

Hey guys, I set up a dedicated Quake server, but I can't figure out how to make it show up on the master lists. Any help would be obliged. And if anyone knows how to attach a domain I own to my server for easy connecting, that would be cool.

It's always good to let others know what the solution was, in case someone else later has the same problem.

You're right. I'll try not to be a complete waste of HDD space. Basically, I had to register my server with Quakeservers.net and it said that it will be reviewed and added shortly. As far as the domain goes, I host with namecheap, and they are based as hell as far as everything goes. I added a subdomain and connected my IP address to it and it works.

In the summer/spring at Jean Lafitte Park (probably any swamp) we have black and yellow "crickets" that size. They are also supposedly poisonous but, in hindsight, I can't trust the source.

Kind of like this but fatter and less yellow

Offer your buddy Doug W. the opportunity to get off the hook if he eats a few of them so you can find out.

I learned something in this thread. Big ugly crickets freak me out. I was looking at the first one and I couldn't imagine putting that thing in my hand. Although, if I was starving, I do believe I could eat it.

@Baker - I never did get a call back. I guess he didn't turn himself in. Now you have me reminded about this and I want to know.

Cats seem to enjoy eating the little black crickets (go figure).

Not on my list of things to eat, but the entirety of dandelion is edible and I guess a Dutchman introduced them to North America for that purpose. Taraxacum - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Not exactly "Johnny Appleseed" but I guess if nothing else is available.

On the insect topic: I saw one of these speedy guys roaming around inside last fall and I got freaked out: Scutigera coleoptrata - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Looks like an alien invader!

I captured it, determined what he was --- and after discovering they actually live a few years and are basically harmless --- repatriated him outside. They are startlingly fast and eat other bugs and have a general aversion to light and apparently can sting and some people in Japan have them as pets.

Ive seen something similar to that down here (in La.) but never gave it much thought. I want to say the similar bugs I saw live mostly by/in water. Your bug looks a bit fancier than my bug. Mostly the legs seem longer.

As far as weird pets go. I sort of have a bunch of geckos. They seem to absolutely love living between my front door and my screen door. I don't mess with them. If they want to live in my doorway and probably eat bugs before they get in my house, I'm fine with that.

I read somewhere that formosan termites don't exactly eat wood. They are a host to a parasite and the parasite in a sense is their digestive system. The termites swallow the wood bits, the parasite processes it and basically the termite survives on parasite shit....if I'm remembering this right.
