FTEQW not reading files Linux problem

I was wondering if anyone here knew the answer to my problem. It seems that FTEQW only works when logged into the root account in Linux. It just loads up blank when I use my user account. Any ideas?

there's nothing that requires root access (except maybe audio...)
try running it with -nohome, and if that fixes it go and delete stuff in ~/.fte/* (probably just the configs)

I tried. It still doesn't work.If it helps, I'm using Slackware. It's not a huge deal since it still works in root, but I would like to be able to run it in skeletor (my user account.)
