* Intentionally bad graphics
* Novel concept

... can succeed where a game ...
* has single player
* one of those 25 year "OMG! OMG!" and laughing guys making YouTube videos to get the 10 year olds excited (they like emotional commentary).

But a multiplayer-only FPS game with great graphics will crash and burn on the rocks.

Lessons for all.

"Abstract graphics + novel gameplay beats Quake/Quake 3 clone" doesn't sound so abnormal to me, really. It's a new-ish gameplay mechanic, and a shooter, plus it looks unique, so of course people will check it out.

+ Unique look
+ New gameplay gimmick
+ Established genre

= success?

i havent tried it but, at first glance it looks like turn-based gameplay with slo-motion effects between turns. and no this wouldnt work on multiplayer, oh wait, we can just set the host_frametime and make everyone around in slo-motion. Hmm, i think we did that once for fun. it lasted about 20 miuntes then everyone got lag-sick....

lol just played, kinda fun!
