  • Monsters in Deathmatch

    Has anyone ever played with monsters in deathmatch? I remember back in the day, that there were loads of mods of this nature, even one where you could bring in a shambler helper (Was it painkeep?). I remember some mods were fun shortly, whilst some were annoying. Some mods I remember were fun for a while, and then they'd get tedious.

    It would be trivial to change the quakec code to allow monsters. I'm just bouncing ideas around how single player and deathmatch could somehow be stitched together. I think that it would get annoying, and somehow you'd need to be able to kill the monsters easily.

    I was watching the Doom 4 trailer, and I was thinking how it would be cool to have the medikits and weapons come out of the monsters. You could have single player, deathmatch and coop all joined into one, and the players can then choose how to behave - whether to attack each other or to play nice and share the win.

    Hipnotic has this unused option...

    Func_spawn will spawn any monster in when it is triggered. Even on deathmatch, unless the spawnflags make it do otherwise. I've tested this out. It seems to work perfectly.

      I would love to play Monsters vs Quakers.
      1v1 - 8v8 , filling out with different monsters with different perks/strengths....

      Each monster could have its own benefits!
