Some thoughts on your thoughts about forum posts, basically any public forum is going to have silly posts/threads. TLTQ had them, Singed had them, Quakeboard has them, Func_Msgboard has them, Inside3D has them.

We decided early on that the forum posting is going to be a very liberal thing overall. Free flow of information and free discussion always comes with some silliness, but people are always free to pick and choose threads that interest them.

There's a difference between silly posts and posts that have no purpose whatsoever. I dont mind laughing at a video clip or whatever once and a while, but some of the threads around here are damn asanine.

I just now listened to this episode of qradio and just want to comment about Bank's comments about forum posts.

What do you, Bank, define as posts being dumb, stupid, and silly? I think for the most part, most useless posts have been contained to Chat-O-Rama. You mentioned the ID pronounciation topic as being dumb.... since most people responding in the thread said they had no idea of the correct pronounciation, I think the topic is far from dumb and useless.... it's probably helped some people learn the real pronounciation (I'm one of those as I said in the thread I never knew the correct way).

Also a neat feature of the forum is the "Report a Post" ability. If you really think a post is dumb or should be removed, click the "Report" link at the bottom of a post. You can enter comments and all admins/mods get notified with your comments. We can then judge and make actions against such posts.
