  • What should we use- poll

It's been debated, and I see 3 major options.
Ventrilo - I used this while playing an extensive DC ctf game. While DesertCombat is a mod for Battlefield1942, a relatively old game, it still draws most of my CPU power on high graphics. Ventrilo however let me esilu communicate with friends on the DC server while playing, simultaniously. We were able to locate snipers, bailers (people who drop from planes in order to cap flag), and tank campers efficiantly. The end score was 7-0, 7 being coalition team, which was useing ventrilo. The opposition team had a slight advantage as one of them had ventrilo as well, but there are multiple channels for coalition anb oppoosition. I see no reason why this would not be possible with Quake (e.g. red vs blue in tdm or ca or whatever). Definately a 10/10 experiance.

Skype - never used it, but I imagine it would be the same as Ventrilo or just remotely different

Trillian - From what I hear, nice IM program compatible with most other IM's.

I voted Trillian. It is the only messenging program that I've tried out of those three.

I used to use GAIM but when Trillian released whatever current version of their software that's out now I switched over. I found Trillian to be a little more user friendly.

                Where's Miranda? It's the best multi-protocol messenger.

Trillian also has the ultra-cool feature of some words being underlined with the ability to look them up in wikipedia. If you hold your mouse over the underlined word for a second, it shows the wikipedia complete definition of the word. How awesome is that? So now if you don't know what the hell the other guy is talking about, wikipedia is there to help.

Monster - I find that to be distracting just due to the random underlining, which adds emphasis to the text where there normally wouldnt be. That and I just have a keyword search for wikipedia in Firefox, and the browser is very very rarely closed.

I consider that to be more of a trinket than a feature, but I guess it has its purposes (and porpoises).

I felt the same way when I used Trillion, really just an added "LOOK AT WHAT OUR SOFTWARE CAN DO LOL"
