Don't forget, rtlighting runs faster if you have .rtlights files.

Yeah, it's mostly because the light positioning in Quake is designed for lightmaps, so there end up being a lot of them. The .rtlights files are specially designed for rtlighting, so there aren't quite as many lights, and they're more intelligently placed. It's not as if the .rtlights files inherently make the rtlighting faster, they're just more efficiently designed.

cool, i need to check that out. Although, I still have my crappity crap pci graphics card and it will probably strain it.
              i need an updated computer...!

GLSL is required for the real time lighting to work - it uses fragment shaders for diffuse and specular lighting. You can still enjoy most of the other features though (I think).

The makefile is named "Makefile.win". I'm guessing Vengence isn't setup for linux? I'm looking at the makefile now. It's totally just ment for windows.

you can always try it though. Just type "make".

I'm sure Entar will correct me on a few things

I didn't mean for it to be Windows-only, but it seems the engine I made it from had the linux parts stripped out or something. I'm going to be looking into restoring linux support soon. I only hope it doesn't end up being a real pain.

It shouldn't! It's just that the makefile you have there now is completely windows only (C:/Program Files... is a big hint). You could look at some example linux makefiles (which I think work for both windows and linux) on tyr-quake and joequake.
