Clan sites/forums on quakeone?

Our motive for starting quakeone was to provide a hub for the communty, make it easy to find servers, get setup with new clients, and encourage people to play quake in general. There has been more clan activity lately, and Sole and I talked about an idea to support the community and promote more clan activity.

Basically, if people are interested, we could give clans there own subforums on quakeone, and possibly a quakeone subdomain as well (e.g. kp.quakeone.com). So, there would be a new "clans" forum in the forums, and in it there would be sub forums for each clan interested. Each clan could have a public and a private forum, like quakeboard.

The idea being that people dont like to register on a check in on dozen forums, and each clan having their own site and forums with 12 people registered doesn't make as much sense as using quakeone forums where most everyone is registered. I imagine some people would prefer to run their own sites, but this doen't promote the community and encourage clan activity as much I think.

What do you all think? Please keep discussions somewhat relevant to this idea

allthough i am not in any clan, nor do i intend to be.. i'd say this is a good idea!
As u say, it keeps the quake-scene better organized and would give new players (and non clanmembers like me) a better overview of the clans in existence.. me likes it

Hmmm, earlier on we wanted to link to Quakeone from our TU forum. Whoever it was apparently thought we wanted a link from here to our website, and shot the idea down.

I think the TU's are fine where we're at. We have complete autonomy there. We're happy.

You would get a subforum AND a website... that address would be for the website, which would be separate from the forum...

My idea was since Quakeone.com was to be the community glue for Quake 1 that it should be a place for massive groups (clans & friends) to get their own sperate section but still be 100% linked to quakeone. ala sns.quakeone.com

but I never got any feedback about it so I decided to just make the SNS domain myself

Maybe having a link list put up on the Quakeone.com site will help stimulate clan activity? Getting more people to check out all the different active clans just might drive the urge to have stronger, active clans. Just a suggestion
