Need help making quake work.

Ok, since I got the new internet explorer I cannot connect to websites unless I go through bit comit and also I cannot connect to any quake servers. It does not see them. On bit commit I can goto websites but using just internet explorer or mozilla foxfire I can't see any websites. I would like to start playing quake again since I will be on afternoon shifts for work so I won't really have anything else to do when I am at home. So if you guys can give me a hand that would be awesome because I would love to come and play some quake with you guys again. Thanks in advance.

Herbed, do you have something abnormally crappy for a firewall (like Norton)? It sounds like your firewall is not permitting new applications because they changed. What are you using for a firewall?
