Where can you get the registered version of WorldCraft?

  • #2
I assume you are referring to Worldcraft 1.6a, which is the last "full Quake" version of Worldcraft and is also abandonware (while not free, has not been available for sale in ages).

You can Google around and find it, I know it is out there.

However, you might consider Worldcraft 3.3 instead.

The registered version of Worldcraft 3.3 is freely available and if you like Worldcraft, will appreciate the texture rotation support which makes life so much easier. In Worldcraft 1.6, texture alignment gets messed up if you copy a brush (block, object or whatnot) and you spend an eternity trying to get all that aligned.

    Also nice:

BSP <--- heavily developed, you should REALLY check this out
Quark <--- some like it a lot, I think it is confusing
GTKRadiant <--- Gives me a headache

I have 2 more questions about worldcraft.

      1. How do you get that purplish sky found in most quake levels?
      2. How do you name your level? (The Slipgate Complex etc.)

1a. With Worldcraft 1.6, Worldcraft will automatically rip textures out of all the maps you have and put them into textures.wad. Look for textures beginning with "sky".

1b. With Worldcraft 3.3, the Quake Adapter comes with a textures.hlwad with all the ID textures. Look for textures beginning with "sky".

        2. At the top where it says File Edit View, click Map and then click Map and then "Map Properties". Change "Text upon entering the world" to the title of the map you wish to use.
