I'm on my XP computer but when I play quake, the music doesn't work! I made sure that the cd is in and it is as loud as it can be! Help!

You might find this thread useful on issues with Quake and the CD music:

this would make no difference,Quake's 'music' support, without using some QW engine that supports mp3 playback, uses simple CDA tracks. I could pop in any basic CDA storebought/burnt and listen to whatever track correlates with the given map.

I remember someone posting somewhere about the cable/cord that goes from the CD drive to the sound board. Does music off of CDs play in other games on your PC?

If the CD drive was not factory installed or if you built your own PC/installed your own, if I recall correctly this question is very relevant.

most newer CD drives (cdr/w&dvdr/w) come with CDA emulation of some sort ,I dont know exactly how it works, but eliminates the need of a CDA cable, but this is the most likely culprit.

Depends on how old his computer is.

My Win98 machine requires that small cable so I can listen to music.
