  • New voting system

We all have the norm of a vote being called in game which lasts a certain amount of time. Then it's judged by the number of yes votes. No votes don't do anything. Then there's always the players who constantly vote a particular map and yell VOTE (aka, vote yes). And there's always the players who vote a new maps when someone is 5 or so frags from winning the match.

So I have a number of proposed ideas and you all can agree/disagree with my suggestions as well as make your own. I'm all about trying new standards

How the vote is layed out for all the clients:
    • Game paused. Center screen
    • Center screen
    • console message <-- norm

Should it include "no" votes? People that don't vote don't affect the current vote.

server automatically binds HOME and END to vote yes or no?

Pause or no pause, it would be neet to have a vote happen on center screen. It would show who's voting yes and no in real time.

There should be a 3 minute wait time for that person to initiate another vote as well.

This is me throwing out ideas here. Baker's been on my ass about a WARP function in NewDM.

Just do like shmack does. If you type end in teh console, you type yes, and maybe it goes to end.

"server automatically binds HOME and END to vote yes or no?"

NOOOooooOoooooOoOOoo! dont fuck with my cfg seriously tho.. that sucks..

i'd say just do a simple "vote-exit / nextmap" and show who voted (not centerscreen unless its paused couse that would screw up ur aim while playing)

true. I always hated how the xctf server fucked with my ENTER key. I used that to chat at the time

          Another idea:

vote to WARP starts, shows like shmack or any other server. If more than 1/4 of the players vote, pause game and give the vote more time to get more votes in. If 1/4 of the players voted, it must be worth something (unless there's 4 players in game and that person who started the vote voted yes). Yes and Nos mean something. If the vote passes, map warp. Plain and simple. If the vote doesn't pass then that means more than half the players still want to play on the current map. So the only vote you can do now is vote the next map to be played (which doesn't pause the game).

I am strongly against pausing the game during ANY vote.

Yeah, I wish I had known about that back at the time. xCTF is great, that detracts just a little from it. It shouldn't do that.

I don't think mods should change any of your key binds, like what happens at FvF, although I do think the effect Gunter did was very nice.

That kind of feature should be supported in engines. Seriously!

In CAx, NO votes are counted and a majority NO cancels the vote immediately.

rebinding a player's keys are a big "NO NO" in my book.

I can send you my warp code if u like.
