  • Mplayer is back!

    Well, not "the" Mplayer...

A few years ago some people pissed off about the Mplayer downfall created a very similiar program called "seemeplayme.com" I'm not trying to like plug the program or whatnot just wanted to let you guys know.. I'm going to download it tonight and have my pops and my uncle download it so we can play Quake together again

Let me know what you guys think!

As i recall seemeplayme was operational in years past but they cut out a lot of the original games(ie quake) they launched with and just stuck with ones that had a bigger following. Seemeplayme held the last thread of hope for keeping a centralized quake community together but delays kept popping up and there was a year or 2 gap from when mplayer went off line and SMPM launched, and when it did there wasn't many players left to jump back on Quake. Let me know if its changed Magn3tar.

i think this website is the best hope for keeping a centralized quake community. i played for about 8 years without ever going to any forum or website, so i was essentially out of the loop. when this place went up i really got drawn more into the fold

Whoa maybe not, what I remember is logging onto a UI that was identical to Mplayer, evidently those costs were to high so now they support games only?

                      Well, not "the" Mplayer...

                      Awwww. Old mplayer.

Thats where I met "online gaming"

                      First is was "Blood" demo...

                      then Quake demo....

That was summer of 1997. wow

                      I can't believe I'm still playing quake

Mplayer was the first experience i had with good old Quake. I remember the demo playing that one level that kicked ass. Not sure of the map name, but man i miss those days. Mplayer was the beginning of the end of me. Quake 1 was excellent then i moved onto a MMORPG, while still hanging on to Quake 1.. Quake spy then became the go-to program for quake. Great old days.

The seemeplayme server for quake was pretty good. They even had qball. But I would sit in the lobby for dayz and no one would come in. Even the cam rooms were pretty dead. I'm not surprised that seemeplayme didn't last all that long. I think mplayerlive is almost operational though so mplayer might just make a comeback.
