Personally I'm not interested in anything new coming out for Quake, unless its a Quake 1 remake not made by "S.B" I think i'm done with the new quake games... I actually haven't played quake in a few weeks seeing as how it's only riddled with assholes and power hungry administrators most of the time at the popular CA servers who don't know how to truly play a game, let alone admin a server, anyway. All these new versions and modifications to ID Software's Quake franchise is getting old and played out.

I know theres that group of hardcores out there saying "CA and assholes are like peas and carrots" and thats your opinion.

I really don't see myself playing like I use to anymore as I've been busy with other things in real life. I still plan on checking the forums and starting the occasional game but I doubt I'll ever be on for more then an hour at any given time. Its just no longer fun. Even if I were to play at rage the fun factor isn't there anymore, rage isn't a public server, its yellow no.5's server. play his way or get booted, I chose to play my way and got booted, its fine, just stop writing me PM's asking for me to apologize because you will never get one since I didn't do anything wrong except to ruffle his sensitive feathers

Its not that I can't
play Quake anymore, its that my fun factor for it has greatly lowered. It's more like a competition now and instead of feeding the trolls their yummy troll treats and bullshit back and forth I'd rather put my time into something that is worth my time

Basically I am saying "Big deal" about anything new for Quake. I understand this is Quakeone - Resurrection and deals mainly with Quake 1 information and this thread is completely justifiable. I say "Big Deal" though.

I'm here for Quake 1, not "Rage racing" or even Quake Wars

When Quake 1 gets it's second wind goin then I'll probably put even more effort into it trying to get it to grow then I did before. Until then, don't expect to see much of me on any of the servers. I still am the leader of SNS and the SNS website will still run. But right now theres just no reason to play Quake. I can only play certain maps a certain amount of time on the same mod for so long before I realize I'm bored of it :/

Dredd's still running strong and I know certain people think I will get bored of paying, then, in the same sentence say "I'm going to pay for a server once my free server goes down" which I find ironic. But Dredd will always be What it is and will always be the first to have a rotating map pack serving Clan Arena. after all. Clan Arena X was upgraded to included support for other map! How come we don't have Quake 1's map maker's maps running on this? Get to work Zop & ORL!

I dont really play much anymore either. All people will play is DM3. So I just play against frikbots or frogbots most of the time since they'll play any map I want. Its fun experimenting with mods that have frikbot implemented into them. Lately I've been playing Painkeep with the bots, lots of fun.

and yes Phenom. Quake is almost pure competition now. Thats why they just play DM3. They want a playing field that they know by heart because they don't want to be beaten on other levels. Playing different levels is fun, sometimes its a really new experience.

Thanks for your support Monster, and honestly, it kind of sucks to see you not playing as much anymore, but I know how it feels to be stuck in a group of people who don't want to be beatn simply because they have a reputation to hold onto. It should be about fun not who has the higher score because no matter how good you think you are, there is someone better. Learn to deal with that and you can actually have fun, not saying you don't play for fun Monster, but most people can't handle being beatn in a game I know you could whoop me at DM and I would still play DM aginst you without complaining, because I've done it I also have played on Bazil servers with 300+ ping not because I thought I could win but because I wanted to play DM6 with other people on DM. But these days its only about ping, score and name recognition.

I'm more into Quake 1 to get it growing instead of simply playing the game for my own personal gratification. Quake won't hold itself up anymore its 10+ years old and if its community only focuses on playing the game instead of also focusing on growing it, then it will diminish to nothing.

Before Quakeone.com I barley even knew how to use forums except what little experince I got from quakeboard.net, this is basically one of the last communities of Quake 1 so unless something positive comes to Quake 1 I only see tyrany, corruption and ultimatly Quake 1's demise.

You can call this bitchin or whatever you want, but I'm reminding people that Quake 1 isn't the top dog anymore in the gaming industries.

Phenom if you want to help with growing a part of the Quake 1 community that is classic yet fresh, please help me revive CTF! if you ask around, as i do, you'll find there's so many people who want to play it, it's just there are no servers active all the time. There has always been interest, but no focal gathering point. So, we've been getting together on Thursday and Sunday nights at 10 pm EST, 7 pm PST, usually on ctf.clanhdz.com. CTF used to be the dominant mod in the Quake 1 community, even just a few years ago. We've had people of all different skill levels showing up--literal first timers, as well as Rummies and HDZs, and i've even managed to dig up some old contacts and get some old time CTFers back who have quit since ctf died, its been great! its been going pretty strong for at least the last 6 weeks, and we've had up to 12 people on at a time, so drop on by! it's fresh, friendly, oh and did i say classic??

I do some very light mapping, and I play Quake 1 multiplayer for the interaction with other players, other games I don't have a problem with single player and most other games I prefer SP but for some reason with Quake 1 Its all about multiplayer and gettin to have fun with friends
