  • Hey guys! Finny needs HELP....

...well, I'm setting up a new comp.

I have downloaded my original '96 QUAKE CD-ROM. Sweet.

I have also tried to download the maps of the servers on this site.

So far, however, when I try to connect, the screen says "connection accepted," but then stops. Just the orange background & a cursor--no game. Finny sad. :-<

    Can anyone advise?

Also, my mouse speed/sensitivity is WAY too slow. Need to make it super-frosty--what's the command?

Thanks guys--with your help, I'll see you all online soon!

    :-P

      Yes, listen to FOQ.

You need ProQuake. Toyo uses it, Cherry uses it, I use it, everyone you know is using it. It's just GLQuake but better and you won't have that "connection accepted" problem anymore.

      Any of the following work:

      1. ProQuake Launcher http://www.quakeone.com/proquake

      2. ProQuake EZ Installer

      http://www.quakeone.com/index.php?in...file&file_id=1

Or you can manually install it off the ProQuake site:

      http://proquake.planetquake.gamespy.com/
Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

        Thanks you two.

So far, so good. I've got ProQuake downloaded--you're right, looks great.

Now when I try to connect through ProQuake it says "you must have the registered version" to do that.

What the? How do I register an 11 year-old CD-ROM?

        :-/

install a fresh version from the cd, then move the pak0.pak and pak1.pak files from that id1 folder to the id1 folder of proquake, replacing any that might be there
