I got the server up and running. Right now its a CAx server. I know there are already a lot of those. So if anyone has an Idea or suggestion, feel free to post it up.

The server works beautifully so go try it out.

Don't be one of those admins who thinks their shit don't stink like Yellow No.5 and you should be good.. hell Yellow might even let you promote your server on Rage since its not me and he will make any attempts possible to cause me hardship in trying to get another successful server running... but theres people who walk and people who talk Yellow talks alot

Just be a cool admin and you won't get looked upon like a retard who needs to be taken out of his admin status. This isn't just my view on this issue, there are quite a few others who think the "Rage" way of admining a server is completely idiotic... but its your server and its just my suggestion... run your server into the ground if you want

Change the menu splash screen from "Welcome to rage.quakeone.com" to "Welcome to speaknow.quakeone.com"

where is the server located?

The server is based outta chicago.

Where can I change the welcome message host name? I tried it in the autoexec.cfg where it said
"hostname "rage.quakeone.com [ClanArenaX]" //change to your host (ie: ca.essentrix.net)"

And it didnt do anything... do I need to compile a new progs.dat??

I'm no CAX expert but in most mods I've used you usually find it lurking in one of the.qc files, admin.qc? client.qc? (can't recall which and I'm not by a server to check) which requires a recompile and away you go. i believe the "-hostname myservername" in the command line controls the name that appears is 'advertised' to game browsers and when you type status in console.

It would be a sensible place I agree, but that's just too sensible :d and I have seen it elsewhere on some mods. For example the new version of Quake Deathmatch Plus has it in the client.qc (void() KeepMOTD). Maybe one of the CA admins.Coders could chip in here and give Dread some more expert advice on the CA mod.

Well. Yea ima need some help because I either need the source or a decompiler and I dont think they make a decompiler for mac. I have a compiler though. Someone Help!

Answer: You must use a hex editor or ask Rook; it is hardcoded into the progs.dat

CAx is a closed source mod so the source isn't available to compile it.

you can hex edit the progs.dat, try ULRAEDIT, search for "Welcome to..." and edit but dont exceed the exact area of TEXT.. Or I can compile you a version with the correct MOTD
