Here come the excuses.
He'd beat you like you weren't even playing if you ever played DM against him.Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.
So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

Oh yeah, and think of anyone you know who plays, and I would beat them.
But my day is past. I no longer am capable of practicing or staying good at the game, I have a new sens I have not adjusted to and new settings on my PC that have forced me to play less. I have all but quit for college, my free time is no longer available to blow on the game.

In reality you know nothing about how proficient I am at DM, you think based off what you have heard of others, and you have never played me. You have never seen any one of my wins. I've beaten well regarded players 17 - -4, 20-3, etc. Go pick anyone you know and I would demolish them at dm2. Cata is the only one who beats me at dm4. Dm6 I get beaten every so often but you only see the losses because people get excited and have an e-jaculation when they beat me in DM, like I'm some sort of benchmark everyone judges themselves against. Flattering.

He's more important than you and your whole family. What he did to Quake, you will never do. You're a pathetic... nothing. You mean nothing. The World without you would just be... the World.
Baker, I'm your fan! Keep up the good work!

I've never said you aren't at least a near-great player and I haven't seen you play DM firsthand.
I'll just drop this at leave it at that.Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

Although, this is tangent, it sure as hell isn't like there is much about "graphics settings" in this thread
So here goes ...
The World Feeds Us Silly Ideas (Basically Lies) So We Don't Think
Ok, you aren't going to get this now. This is granted. But it doesn't mean I won't try.
The lies are more insidious than you can believe. Here is how it goes:
1. You have mainstream position #1.
2. You have counter-mainstream position #2.
3. We are presented #1.
4. But it is common knowledge that not everyone will believe it.
5. So there is a pre-fabricated "canned" position #2.
6. Position #1 is false; position #2 is false ... it is known in advance.
7. Now arrange for position #1 to argue with position #2 and vice versa, and distract everyone.
8. Insiders know position #1 and position #2 are meaningless, they are meant to distract.
9. Human tendency is that for something to be false, the "canned" opposite position must be true.
10. This works shamefully well; it is taught in marketing and politics. It is known as framing the debate or framing the question.
11. The result is that most people never are actually asking a question they came up with themselves.
Gah!
Welcome to our world.
Case in point, you've been taught that communism is "bad" [as opposed to capitalism], Anarchy is "bad" [as opposed to order], and Dictatorship is "bad" [as opposed to democracy].
But what you aren't taught is:
1. Capitalism isn't actually a system of economics, but a system of the universe. You can no more "not have" capitalism than you can "not have" math or physics. And communism isn't actually a system of economics, but a philosophy, and not a bad one either. In fact, it is a very good idea to partially implement it and every country is!
If capitalism is a description of how resource distribution works and not a system of economics, and if communism isn't a system of economics but a philosophy, how can they be opposites? They are very much compatible with each other.
2. Anarchy is an idea. It's also impossible. Like flying monkeys. The strong will always dominate the weak (add some asterisks to that) and therefore the majority will always rule in some fashion because numbers matter and 9 times out of 10, the greater number wins.
3. Dictatorship is very much alive even in free countries. Any democratic country is, in fact, by definition a republic, not a democracy. Pure democracy is direct rule by the people. No country does that nor ever will.
Putting that aside, even in democratic countries, substantial percent of government decisions are often entrusted to one appointed individual and many functions of society are actually outside government and in corporate control.
Even in the freest of countries, we don't actually practice democracy but really in a way elect our own dictators for short terms [4 year terms in the USA] and require re-election and limit the duration to a maximum [2 terms or 10 years max in the USA].
The main difference is, we get to choose our dictators (we have a revolving dictatorship with limited government) and the "true dictatorships" have a dictator for life. Our system is much better, of course, for obvious reasons.
But we over-emphasize the top!
Most decisions, even in dictatorships, are not made by the top. And, in fact, most decisions are not made by elected officials or even government figures. Corporations and even industry groups have a huge impact on our lives. (Google, Microsoft, utility companies, telecom companies [AT&T and Verizon in the USA], Walmart [in the USA], large insurers, large banks, large pharmaceutical companies, etc.)
But we aren't taught to think of the world in this way. In fact, we aren't taught to think very much at all. Most people's idea of free-thinking is opposing mainstream idea #1 and going with "canned" opposition idea #2.
