  • CTF (Mtown)

This is a continuation from the thread involving FPS promo..

If you want to revive CTF, there needs to be a popular server to bring CTF back..

Mtown was a prime example of this, I played on MTOWN daily.. I didn't even touch CA at the time..

Mtown was 3wave's gatekeeper, many Mtown players played 3wave consistently..

After Mtown died that was the disappearance of CTF/3wave in general..

Mtown was just as popular as rage..speaknow.. and shmack if not more popular.. the server was packed daily and it was hard to find a spot..

It was also evident that since the server died a majority of players left Quake..

promoting ctf.quakeone.com would be essential.. but it seems Chi based servers are primed for success in Quake.. shmack.. speaknow are all Chi based and eastern players flock to these servers.. ping seems to be the deciding factor in choosing which server to play on..

if the host of ctf.quakeone.com could be moved to a Chi based route I would see no problem in playing there and getting others to play there..

Agreed, it seems like the Chicago servers are a nice central location for everyone. I know I don't ping very well to the rum server or the clanhdz server. Please get a Chicago based server!!!

i've been promoting sunday night CTF for a while now, and it's been very successful. i'm not too sure what the next step is. we have this island of CTF activity every sunday night, but activity outside of that is sporadic, almost nonexistent. i'm open to brainstorming though, and will support any good ideas. i don't think lack of servers is the biggest issue here, because ctf.quakeone.com and crctf.clanhdz.com pretty much meet all of our needs for both pub style and 3wave.
2 ideas: 1) starting a ctf tourney sunday nights
      2) trying to establish another set time to play--i've heard the idea of thursday night floated

MTOWN was one of the BEST , absolute BEST servers for CTF ever. I would have a heart attack if it was brought back. Rook, somebody, get on this.

For awhile I had a Chicago 3wave server up, and it was getting a lot of play nightly, so yeah, chicago is a good place for some ctf

I remember all the Mtown servers being really popular... just like that CA server the Sol` or whatever his name was,and I really miss 2v2 Clanberries style CA,and I miss Hating CTF style CTF. I never really enjoyed 3wave that much.

and speaking of Mtown , those servers was hosting on the East coast , NewJeresy.

mindzy, "hating CTF style" i assume means pub style. ctf.quakeone.com is still pub style and we often start sunday night ctf on there, sometimes moving to hdz later. you should drop by
