Anyone have a mouse here with more than 5 buttons?

If so, can I get confirmation that ProQuake 3.99 using -dinput has the ability to use them?

Without -dinput, it appears Windows is limited to the capability for 5 mouse buttons.

Microsoft's own DirectInput specification appears to support up to 8 mouse buttons and I'd just like confirmation that with m_directinput 1 in PQ399 that 8 buttons can be used.

I have 5 buttons. I don't have much use for "mouse4" due to the location, but "mouse5" has an excellent position that can easily be pressed.

using a logitech mx500 mouse with 8 buttons and glpro3.99z on winxp:

with direct input [on] or [off] (either in windowed or fullscreen mode) only mouse4 and mouse5 are being recognized in quake..

(unless i use the mousedriver to assign a keyboard key to those buttons and bind those keyboard keys in quake.. but thats besides the point )

I have a 4 button mouse and use Qrack/GLpro. Buttons 1 and 2 are fine and dandy, 3 seems to ocassionally lose it's functionality with GLpro ( i just have 'bind mouse3 +switch' with +switch being 'impulse 6' and -switch being 'impulse 7'). I'm not sure whether some unscrupulous server admin did an 'unbind all' command as that's the only real bind i use. Unfortunately mouse4 doesnt work at all in Proquake/GLQuake.
The mouse is a logitek mouseman wheel.

It would be a real aid to gameplay to have the same sort of functionality on mouse 3 and 4 that i have on 1 and 2. I am hoping I can bind mouse 4 to some sort of 'kill =peg=' command (jk)

          Hope this helps

Hehe, mouse4 should be working if direct input is enabled..

Set it to [on] in advanced settings menu (glpro3.99) or if that fails..

Try to set mouse4 to a keystroke in your mouse-driver.. then just bind that key in quake.. should work fine.

Also mouse3 needs to be set to "middle button" in mouse-driver for it to work correctly in quake (usually that is)..

For a kill-peg command you are on your own I'm afraid
