USA servers only:

Anyone notice that the typical server experience involves a lot of rudeness? (USA only)
What server can you go play on without jerks? CA. No. DM. Definitely not, certain DM players are asswipe extraordinaires. RQ. No, seems like there are always 2 or 3 ultralame players who are less there to play than run their mouths.
In fact, it's not uncommon to encounter some flavor of douche bag trying to their pea brain occasionally here in the forums.
Why I think this is happening; how it is bad and ... possibly inevitable
1. Many players/choices scenario
If there are many players and many popular servers, admins use ban more often to keep things in check and players don't care too much because they can just go somewhere else.
If there is some iffy dude who seems like he might be cheating, just get rid of him and if he happened to be clean -- well, it's not a perfect world and he can play somewhere else.
2. One popular server scenario (aka admin-god scenario)
This was the old Widomaker server in a nutshell. Huge playerbase -- no equivalent alternatives. That server had like 15 admin back 5 years ago.
Get banned and you are entirely shut-out from your favorite game. Also leads to an environment of a lot of complaining about admin behavior.

3. Few players/few servers scenario (aka kiss rude players/cheaters asses scenario)
Certain players are very comfortable (too comfortable) and do whatever they want. The player pool is limited so almost everyone knows everyone else.
If a trend of rudeness develops, it becomes the new normal but a server operator doesn't want to alienate players.
At the same time, how could you possibly recommend anyone new ever playing there?
So the few players scenario leads to --- even fewer players.
The real question is: How do you solve that problem?
