oddd screen issue

Ok this is annoying me, but oh well. Ok when i play quake with the clients, the screen is wierd like the top part of the screeen is at the bottom and the bottom on the top, and in the middle of the screeen its blocked out, whats the problem? (Dont be calling me an idiot I havent played quake in a while...)

What client are you using? It sounds like ProQuake 3.50

You can see your client version by looking in the lower right hand side of your console.

Ive tried everything, winquake, glquake, proquake, it still has the same problem... i need to know how to fix it...

Try adding +gl_ztrick 0 to your command line. Some video cards don't support that rendering speed-up that GLQuake uses by default.

If that fails, I'd load up Qrack

hmm, what about proquake? do i do the same thing? ps. i have windows xp media center.

Adding +gl_ztrick 0 will work with GLQuake or GL ProQuake or just about any other engine.

ive tried it , but it doesnt work so i used qrack, it works but why is the menu screen so dark??

gl_clear 1 and gl_finish 1 should also help (I suspect the latter more than the former)
