  • iPhone Quake Port- pak1.pak

So they have ported Quake to the iPhone (Well they did a while ago, but I just got ahold of it) and it comes with all the shareware files, but the pak1.pak file is required for the "full" game (I assume it contains all the singleplayer maps and such).

I DO own the game, but copying files to an iPhone without wifi or SSH involves a long, complicated ritual complete with desk-banging and a sacrificial altar. I have a torrent application and a download plug-in for Safari (So I can download stuff from Rapidshare, etc. etc.) on my iPhone directly. Is there a way to aqquire the needed pak1.pak file using something similar to a Lime and a Wire (or the iPhone equal) from a torrent site/uploading service?

    Thanks!

Edit: Look! I have links to increase my credibility to over nine thousand!

See? It's true! (I can't back up the part about the altar though)

No, or at least not if you don't want your thread to be quickly locked. What is your objection with SSH anyway?

Why not email yourself the file as an attachment?

/And yes, like Lardarse said, threads involving non-purchase ways to acquire registered Quake data files isn't a very good thread topic.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

He will likely complaing about the file being too big to send as an attachemnt.

Then find out how big a file you can send with an attachment, and then use one of those programs to split the file into chunks that are big enough to e-mail. Then once they are on your iPhone, assuming they are called pak1.pak.part01 pak1.pak.part02 pak1.pak.part03 etc., do something like this: cat pak1.pak.part* >pak1.pak

Or, since he has it anyway, put it on RS himself then down load it to the iPhone.

              Solved... Thanks!

BTW about the file splitting thing, can you use a prompt alone to reattach them or would I need something else?

(SSH involves using the same WiFi as your PC/Laptop which I can't do)

There are programs that let you reattach split files together, but AFAIK they only exist for Windows. Most programs that split files will tell you how to re-attach them, and some will even do it for you. There's also a method for the Windows command line, but I don't remember it.

There are countless ways to split and join files on Linux, tar would be the obvious choice.
