  • 2 New Server with vwep support! FFA & RocketArena

Here are the links to my server. I still need to tweak some things, but they are fairly ready to go.

Any suggestions on how you want the server changed or "enhanced" I would appreciate! Like maps and what not. or any advice on problems I encounter. Right now I can't seem to get a map rotation to work.

    Enjoy!

*EDIT* I fixed the map rotation so we aren't stuck on one map all the time.

Change your server ports to Quake 1's default port 26000 FAST!

Also knowing the server's location would be nice.

    thats all

Those are QW servers and that is the default port.

Most of us here play NQ. Also add custom maps.. more on this later, hook option would be nice - no runes.

you should tell the people of these at quakeworld.nu

and that would be cool if u also hosted a netquake server

yup location is Riverton, UT. Comcast is my internet. Also the default quakeworld port is 27500 these are running on the same computer so I can't use the same port if you can't connect through a join server menu use the connect command in the console.

              connect 76.72.10.117:27500

I started these servers for the vwep support so unless there is a netquake server with vwep support than I'm sticking to KTX plus it has a lot of features I really like.

I do want to have custom maps but which ones is the question. let's have some suggestions on which maps you's like to see added.

This is mostly out of self interest I am just toying around with linux and servers. I am used to SRCDS and decided I wanted to get a quake server going than noticed vweps and wanted to get that working. I am going to build a new rig for these server as my 2.4 ghz with 512 mb of ram is more than these servers need. I'm learning as I go so be patient, and I thank you all for the suggestions and help. I am a hands on learner so I just mess with it tell I get it where I want but it's like a sculpture that I will allways be "chipping" away at. trying new things. LockNLoad wanted a FFA server with vwep so that's what I did. he requested I let him and you guys know when it was ready and in it's current form it's exactly that, but I do desire to advance it more.

KTX is also hard to get custom mods to work on I couldn't even get Instagib to work or CTF to work right, which would have the hook. I wanted to have four servers a FFA, RocketArena, Instagib, and CTF. but was having trouble with the "all round" server on ktx. so I just did the FFA and RA cause I could get RA to work but the SFX aren't working on RA.

Dude, nobody in US - or very few ppl play QW. They play that in Europe - huge player-base there. And I doubt they will play here because it is US and high ping.

I would deff. play at your server if you make it NQ - as mostly NQ clients are used here in States.

I am curious how I would ping at your server, however I cannot connect since I use NQ.

This has possibility of being very cool server. Sort of middle-way between runes and ca if you add hook and run custom maps - something I am deff. interested in.

You can use DarkPlaces, or Zquake or ezQuake, or FTE. I'd suggest DP since it can connect to both protocols.

Last time I connected to QW servers using DP, it connects and I can only move my mouse.

Also among my discussions with Lord Havoc he does not fully support QW, therefore it is not surprising it exhibits anomalous behaviour.

I have not used those clients you mentioned.

Anyway, I switched permanently to Baker's ProQuake, therefore this is out of question now. I am also tired of switching clients - it is silly at this time and age - and this is best now - since it is plain Quake with highest frame-rate.

These are just my opinions.. it is up to this guy to do what he wants with his servers. I just wanted to play that setup and I think many may want that too..

                        Peace.

Well I know that this site is netquake, now. But I know that lots of users play QW in US. not just in europe. Like I said this was for the vwep support. Show me a way to have vweps on a netquake server and I'll toy around with that.

and I'm not speaking for quake as I would not know, but my Counter-Strike Source server had people joining from Europe namely France with pings of 150ms not to bad if you ask me!

                          Just a few thoughts...

                          Also,

I tried Darkplaces and it claims to be suporting both but I get some serious lag issues connecting to QW server with it, Even on my own. I'd stay away from that although it's a beautiful graphics engine.

I use ezQuake it offers great features and is graphicly rich with out costing to much resources like Darkplaces. It's my fav. also offers a lot of customization features and is the client bundled in nQuake!

Also I like to get input on my servers! I want them to be largly driven by the players I hope to have playing on them. They are for all of us to enjoy! I want the people who do play on them to be in a server they like to play in and feel they have a say in how it is ran.
