Had a bunch of shit happened the last couple days. Today, I finally took the last load of my ex-girlfriend's shit to her today. On my way back, I ended up running over one of those reflects on the road while on I-65 and heard a pop. A rapidly deflating rear tire.

Luckily, I wasn't far from my parents' house so I got the tire changed and went to my parents' house to crash for the night til I can get the tire fixed later on today. By the time I had got in, it was like 1:30am or so and everyone was playing Douchebag Match so I said fuck it.

Barring natural disasters or leet hax, I'm gonna be ready for a game of CTF today (Sunday) and you fuckers had best be ready to play lest you get 0wn3d by a shmack player.

Since my computer is always on, I was thinking of hosting hook-only custom maps - what Shmack never has.. cuz I only enjoy hook action.

We play on port 26002. I try to give tips and advice to pure shmack(26000) players when they join. There is hook... no runes(vote-able)... but sadly no custom maps. The gameplay is very smooth and enjoyable.

Ya deff. Although I do not understand why Slot is so stubborn to add those custom maps - maybe to just port 2?

I mean - not knowing much about computers and stuff - would it not be something like just copying all those files to computer server and providing download location for players?

I am very able and energetic to doing stuff. Usually, when I do not get something I want, I get it done by myself.

With that being case, I have pretty endowed computer, fat pipe and I know it would mean lots to lots of people - including myself - to have custom maps with vote-able hook and no runes.

I have collected tons of fun maps - some even spanning from BDA - that I can only enjoy with RuneQuake bot mod..

I am open to ideas and if somebody tells me how to do this, I will get it done - as I am not *that* techy with deep computing stuff.

Also I heard someone say that home connections are not reliable to host? If they are, I can deff. do it. I would also need help with configuring everything.. since I am east coast (NY) - things would run pretty fast..

Not unless you're serious. But get a nice big pipe and you might be in business. a standard home cable modem to host a Quake server would be like riding a donkey on the highway, you'll get there faster with proper transportation not a donkey.

Panix, why would you ever call yourself a SHMACK PLAYER you NEWB. You are Clan RuM - you are a 3wave player, GET IT RIGHT.

Oddly, I was thinking about Shmack earlier today. I don't get why it only pertains to "newbies" needs, when infact, none of them are technically "newbies" as far as playing Quake goes. I think the 3wave hook should be in the RuneQuake mod as well. That way, newbies AND vets can actually enjoy the game.

Oh - and yeah that sounds great. Custom maps runequake - 2 thumbs up. (with 3wave hook of course)

*EDIT* Also, I've thought about the same thing as Paradise in hosting a Quake server at my house. I just wondered if it would work out better for West Coasters or canucks. HDZ server has been problematic lately and not everyone likes chicago.pulsegate.net. I'd be down for hosting whatever people would want to play be it dm, ca, rq, ctf, etc.

I did two speedtests. The one to KC was some Propel Wireless or something and the one to Dallas was a Speakeasy link. That's the results with the ping and the speed it showed. Doesn't look too bad. If people would ping sneakybandit.com and post the output, I'd appreciate it so I could see if it'd work out for others.




Please let me know if there would be interest in me doing this.
