  • Quake 1

    Hi to all,

My name's Ben and i have literally just registered myself to this website.

Reason being i have just tryed to install Quake 1 onto my computer and it's not having any of it, bearing in mind im a complete novice when it comes to computers.

I've gathered that the game is obviously to old to have on such a new system (windows vista)

My question is, is there anyway that i can install the game?

I can remeber playing on this game when i was about 10 years old and have just stumbled across the disc in an old box in the loft!

It would mean so much if i could play this awsome game once again and reunite my old memories.

    Many Thanks

    Ben.

Hi Ben, and welcome to QuakeOne.

Personally I don't run Vista, but I know from experience that it runs on 2000 and XP and trawling through some of the threads it's seems many of our members use Vista so it is achievable. Perhaps it might help them to help you if you gave them as much information about the problem as possible including error messages and so forth.

One initial tip that may start you on your way is to rename the opengl32.dll file in your quake directory to something else. Also consider using the latest version of ProQuake which has many of those little annoying bugs ironed out. If that doesn't resolve your problem start looking at the posts in the help section. Finally if you have no luck post the details here and I'm sure some kind hearted soul will try and help

      Kind regards
