converting sounds to quake1 (i think its the frequency)

Anyone still have mindgrids? I used to have the file somewhere, uhmm, but that was a good while ago.

Also, I'm trying to make some sounds for quake from death metal (personal use) what is the highest file format thats usable, (audacity wont drop down to 8 bit)?
