Just wounder who here has Scourge of Armagon and Dissolution of Eternity.

I think the Most Difficult Enemy in the two games is by far Armagon. Unlike the Dragon, you cant get use to avoiding his powerful attacks.

If your not 100% alert, Armagon can hit you with 3 to 5 rockets, bringing you down from 150 armour and 200 health within moments.

And the music is fucking epic.

Armagon was nothing. Treat him like a shambler and stay back and forth from cover and he's whipped.

What kind of shamblers have YOU been facing?!?!
I'll have to try your strategy.
But I should add to your advice that this does NOT include the shambler dance!!!!

But I'd say he is by far the hardest monster by miles- his attacks are vicious for me at most ranges.
Of course, he falls apart like a soggy pancake against your weapons- the lightning gun and about 12 nails can kill him in about 10 seconds- the laser cannon works even better.

The centroid is a nasty opponent- but getting out of his sights is so easy it ends up being the most non-threatening monster ever in most situations. He's only a threat in a large, flat area with nothing to jump on.

Gremlins are a tricky one- but pretty easy to take out.

The Diss monsters are a sleepwalk though- all the exact same monsters- or attacks you've faced a million times before, just more armour- the Guardians can be circle strafed while you just take out the real one- the Overlord you just take cover and blast away at- and the dragon is simply too far up to ever get a hit on you.

thats the understatement of the year.

if your foolish enough to get in his line of sight for just one second and your not 500% ready to jump out of your current postion, you will be blasted to hell by his fire/lightning breath. and if your low on health, you've had it. good bye, your dead. game over.

but because the dragon does like to fly quite slow, it is actully rather easy to stay behind him so you could beat him without him firing a single attack. maybe thats what you meant.

but i agree, Armagon is the most difficult enemy of all of Quake. mainly because fighting him in open ground is actully next to impossible because no matter how alert you are, you will very easy be hit by his rockets, each rocket does almost 100 damage and he can fire like 5 of them, all very accurate, right at you, its bloody mental, he gunning capabilites are unlike anything in all of the Quake series. But if you fight around one of the pillars he isnt too hard, just take potshots with Thunderbolt and Perforater.

That too- but the dragon does fly a significant distance up- as you tend to be moving a fair bit already to catch up with him his projectiles do take a while to reach the ground (although the same applies to your rockets and nails).

And you're both right about Armagon- behind cover you're pretty safe (although if he were to shoot a rocket just around the corner- or teleport in some floating mines in the event he has no clear shot of you, it would be a very different story)
