Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.
So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

DM does need a mod to be run on a server. The standard Quake progs.dat is not server friendly (bugs!) and does not have vote-map or several other features that are desperately needed for an online mod.Originally posted by eieio View Postthat is dm. you shouldn't need a mod. it is cheat free tho, so you will need the security dll's
An additional note, CRMOD is not "cheat-free", that's a ProQuake 3.20 and later server feature.
It just happens that most CRMOD servers historically have run cheat-free mode the last several years, but case in point quake.crmod.com:26001 is NOT using cheat-free mode and any client like DarkPlaces or JoeQuake or Qrack can connect as well.
I'm just pointing these things out to do some myth busting.Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

jeezus christ you are picky. the root of his question (as i understood it) was that he wanted to know how to connect to dm.clanhdz.com. i did not take his question to mean whether or not he needed a mod to run a server. otherwise, i dont think he would have specifically about dm.clanhdz.com. yes, CRMOD is not cheat free, but dm.clanhdz.com is. look at the question and try to infer why the person is asking the question.Originally posted by Baker View PostDM does need a mod to be run on a server. Mavness is running a server and I knew this in advance, you probably just thought he wanted to play.

Mav runs FQuick and i think he is bored of CA and needs a more challenging mod. CRMOD is a tight nut to screw, and will provide a good deal of fun, yet imho he should host CTF/CA/DM ports if you want to get the whole multiplayer Quake-ness

Actually everyone else seems to be bored of cax. I do not enjoy DM as much as I enjoy CAx. I jsut figured id throw DM on my server since NOTHING but quake is on there. I know not everyone pings well there, but some do, so for them I will throw DM on a different port and let them have at it!Originally posted by R00k View PostMav runs FQuick and i think he is bored of CA and needs a more challenging mod.
