  • hub.quakeone.com v2.0

I decided to forego the monolouge full of techie mumbo jumbo and simply state that thanks to my uncles, who supplied me with parts I needed to make a $60 batch of computer parts into a working computer, and peg, who helped me out with getting my server visible to the Internet, I (and you) now have 3 more 24/7 dedicated, quality Quake servers, all running unique mods found (almost) nowhere else, the exception being somewhere in Europe (which means horrible latencies for most players on the worse side of the pond), or on port #godknowswhat on some dusty, laggy old forgotten server.

    hub.quakeone.com port 26000 - The Hub
This server is running The HUB, which is an arcade, amusement park, chatroom, and gateway to other servers all rolled up into one, created by Gunter. No files are required to play, but there are some custom arcade sounds that can be downloaded from the link above.

    hub.quakeone.com port 26001 - Slide
This server is running Slide, a modification in which players slide around on hoverboards in racetrack like maps. You get 5 frags for reaching the end of the map, and an additional 2 frags if you broke the speed record for that map. The fraglimit is 50. You need to get the mod to play:

    Download link: http://www.filefront.com/14462707/Slide.zip

    hub.quakeone.com port 26002 - meTchDM
This server runs a mod that doesn't have an official name, but I call it meTchDM, or [/b]meTchQuake[/b]. This is a silly deathmatch mod created by metchskeetle. No files are needed to play, but there are some silly sounds that are played when someone is killed, but I forgot where to download them from. Notible features:

    -Health affects Jumping ability.

-Rocket launcher fires much faster, but the rockets go all over the place and rarely go where you aim them unless you're at point blank range.

    -Grenades explode on impact

-Super Shotgun is much more powerful, but half the time it blows up and kills you. Also it has extreme recoil—you can do "shotgun jumps" by jumping and firing the SSG.

-Dead bodies are gibbable. Sometimes you get stuck on a dead body, so if you happen to randomly stop moving, look down.

-Nailgun fires sticky bomb nails that do immense damage. Note this only works for the Nailgun, the Super Nailgun is unmodified.

    hub.quakeone.com:26003 - Rquake tmcoop
CO-OP runequake running custom maps found here.

The server will be down for an hour or 2 as I'm going to leave it defragging (I havn't done this yet and it's on a fresh install of windows... eek) and I have somewhere to go. After this it should be up 24/7 without interruption, unless something dirastic happens, like the internet goes out or the computer explodes.

Because his methods make no sense.

Have you ever opened up disc defragmenter after a fresh install? Any time I do it's almost all red... red means fragmented, blue means contiguous.

Anyways wether it makes sense to you or not it's done and the server is live 24/7 starting now. *sees sparks fly out of the back of the power supply*

Nah, I'm pretty sure you have. The most I will do with it is hook up a network switch so I can share internet with more than one computer. But that's something that has zero relevance to the Quake server, so I probably won't mention it. If the need arises I might get a faster pentium 3 for it, but I think the current processor is more than capable of handling 3 itty bitty quake servers.

what we need is Signs Of Koth coop

... and a site to d/l all the stuff the server will be running with it

thee is quite a few maps that use it, but you have to look round for them like at Func_Msgboard: News Archive and Quaddicted.com: Quake Singleplayer Maps

                  .......just a suggestion

Meh, I -have- to use the custom build for the rquake server, or else it doesn't work right. So, no auto map downloading.

auto-map-downloading is not dependent on the server binary tho.. that is:
qrack1.90 and proquake4.00 only need an URL to download the maps from (client-side).. so when the quakeone.com maps depot is all sorted, it should work..

in the mean time you (or anyone else for that matter) could make the rquake maps available for download.. just make sure the URL ends in /maps and all maps are available in .bsp format.

                        example:

                        http://foqer.foqnet.foq/maps fake url!

                        qrack1.90 and proquake4.00 users set this client-side:

                        cl_web_download_url "foqer.foqnet.foq/"

                        then it should work..

Would it be possible to get all my servers listed in the server browser? Perhaps something like a drop-down menu that appears when you click on "Quakeone Hub" and shows activity on all the ports.
