  • Good single player front end?

Anyone know of a good single player front end to play quake? Something to make it easier to load mods and levels instead of using the command line everytime?

    Quake Injector Alpha1
Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

Will alpha injector work with the levels and mods I already have? Or does it always have to download from quaddicted? I don't want to wait for a download everytime before playing a map or mod.

I've never used it, but only because I haven't had much Quake playing time lately. I've heard it makes anything easy and is extremely convenient.

(Well actually I tried to use it once, but it didn't work on my Mac and neither of the guys who made it have a Mac so that's not easy for them to deal with. My Windows machine has 7 years of "sprawl" and 30 Quake folders and is otherwise a mess so I kind of use the Mac more often.)

No, it cannot scan for existing files. It can use a local mirror of all the (zip) files though, if that would help you. Are you on dialup or why is it so slow? If you are willing to pay for the shipping I could send you a DVD with all the files.

DirectQ has it all available through it's menus so no need for any command-line or external program twaddling about. mhquake
