Seeing as how this conversation was never intelligent to begin with, I'd say that turning it into one will be quite the challenge. I'm sure Dreadlord will be back to enlighten us with more of his "side" of this directionless topic.

Before I found this community, I was with Filefront forums for a number of years, posting in their forums and releasing my skins on their sites, and they are aware of the problems I have had with people ripping off my work. Also, this is my first experience with a "remake". As Baker said before, the Scrag skin is a touch-up of the original (actually, the face is the only thing that remains of the original. The eyes are mine). However, that is still my work. The touching-up was done by me and it didn't take 2 clicks of the mouse. I can say that I spent hours even on the scrag to make it look good for you all, not for me. If I wanted them just for me, I wouldn't even be here. I would have just made them and used them without letting everybody know. I'm not getting anything for doing this... No, I am getting something, but it's not what I expected. So far, there are 2 pages of comments that make me feel like I did something wrong by spending my time creating these skins (or "re-creating"). All I asked for was feedback, and I thank Lightning_Hunter for taking the time to let me know what he thought of the skins, so I could spend even more time on them. I have finished work on the SOA skins, but I am afraid that after releasing them I might offend somebody else.

Check out my blog! And my site too!

Fragger, don't let one nasty comment get to you. You did nothing wrong, and I believe 99% of the people on this forum absolutely love your work. Believe me, I wasn't the only one annoyed by Dreadlord's comment in your thread. The rest of the comments that followed after (the ones in this new forum) are nothing about your skins, but silly debates over what license to use. I think you should just completely ignore this thread here, since it is redundant anyhow.

Please, don't let this absolutely retarded nonsense get to you. We all appreciate what you are doing.

Fragger, your work with the skins is awesome and I think the amount of feedback you've had is no small measure of the amount that people are impressed by your work.

On the internet, those kind of things happen. A lot. A lot, a lot.

          Just one recently example:

A map release last month @ Func Msgboard leads to pages and pages of flames ...

I think everyone who makes anything eventually ends up with a critique that was too strongly worded. This forum and many others have tons of "this map sucks" or "your engine is crap" or "your artwork is horrible" comments.

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway.

What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway.

Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway.
Any good forum allows free discussion and some days this is good and some days this isn't so ideal. But at least it is consistent.

My original post about your 'license' wasn't meant to make you feel like you did something wrong creating the skins, but merely in their licensing. I think I posted in the original thread and said how much I liked your skins (that comment may have been in another thread about new skins, but the fact is I do like your skins a lot and I'm using them). I still hold that I think your 'license' is too restrictive, seeing that yours and many others skins are considered derivatives under US copyright law (afaik) of ID's original works; which they basically let people do what ever they want with them without ID's consent.
All I asked for was feedback, and I thank Lightning_Hunter for taking the time to let me know what he thought of the skins, so I could spend even more time on them. I have finished work on the SOA skins, but I am afraid that after releasing them I might offend somebody else.
Don't let me deter you from producing more great work, I'm just someone on the internet. I was only voicing my opinion on your 'license', I; as previously stated, love your work.
