These 1vs1 matches would be played as best of 3 5-min matches on either
of these servers: (1.)quake.crmod.com:26000 (2.)dm.clanhdz.com (3.) quake.shmack.net:26002 [voted to match] (4.) quake.shmack.net:26003 [voted to match]

The winner would report their win on here.

Then the winners would advance into round 2, and the winners of round 2 to 3, 3 to 4, and then finals.

The top 5 players would become the team captains.
Each captain would draft a team of 5 players for a total of 8 teams.

Then these 8 teams would form a league and play double-elimination style:
i.e.
Round 1: winners' bracket
Team A vs B
C vs D
E vs F
G vs H
Round 1: losers' bracket
Team A vs D
E vs H

Round 2: winners' bracket
Team B vs C
F vs G
Round 2: losers' bracket
Team D vs H

Round 3: winners' bracket
Team C vs F

Final round:
Team H vs F

So there will be a total of 4 rounds.

This could be for one season, and teams could be same or have player-changes next season.

Yea thats too much, Kimp. Good idea but not enough time. The focus should be on the DM Team tourney vs. figuring out the caps. The caps are easy as the elite players are easily identifiable.
One CQL tourney once, we had all the caps available on IRC and all the players, so they picked out of the players there (and the ones who were absent were also picked)

In this case, perhaps getting everyone's email and doing a relay email for example:

Determine picking order of the Captains.
Email string with all the Caps only.
The email string to have all of the confirmed players.
1st pick emails everyone on the caps email string their first pick.
2nd cap picks, and so on etc.
While the caps pick, idicate an [x] beside player name and the string keeps getting forwared and updated.
Keep picking till done!

Might be alot of emails, so just a suggestion.
You could even try to get everyone (caps only) on a chat room together at once, with a list.
