Each captain only gets 1 from each tier, and it should be randomized.

Also....if it's 4v4, why are there 4 tiers? 1 benchwarmer? doesn't make sense.
So we really have 40 players if you include the captains right? WHy not do 10 teams so that everyone gets to play.

Then there are other players like Drama2, HeyZeus, ZeroAccess, something spirit, etc. Or did they decline?

The list looks good, nice revision.

5 players would ensure that if 1 of the 4 main players for a match is out of
town, a sub can filled in.
Also, if a sub sits the 1st match, he can play the 2nd one, doing best of 3 for each round.

Then there are other players like Drama2, HeyZeus, ZeroAccess, something spirit, etc. Or did they decline?

Drama2 is also playing as far as I know, and could be added to one of the teirs..not sure about HeyZeus and ZeroAccess though...will have to ask them
if I or someone else ever sees them.

i think the better idea is to have a ctf tournament.

Mono - good idea - perhaps you can rally the CTF guys to all pitch in to get one going. The more quaking the better.

Personally I would like to see one day inter-mod tourneys or games.
For example a structure where the clans or teams would need to play CTF, CA or DM on the schedule - meaning each clan would be versed in each mod or each clan have a good player for each of the mods.

That would be nuts!!

My suggestion without reading the thread.

Because the skill difference between tier 1 and tier 2 is so huge, I've thought of a way to balance out a bruce vs a yorb (both good players, but bruce > yorb IMHO)..

Arrange each tier based on skill.
Tier 1. 1a, 1b, 1c, 1d (where 1a is the best)
Tier 2. 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d
Tier 3. 3a, 3b, 3c, 3d
Tier 4. 4a, 4b, 4c, 4d

Fair teams would be:
1a, 2d, 3d, 4a
1b, 2c, 3c, 4b
1c, 2b, 3b, 4c
1d, 2a, 3a, 4d

The end result is fairly all around teams without mega strong captains or mega weak anchors are able to play against captains that just simply dominate regardless of who their team is.

If you want teams of 5, 1 for a backup, then I would suggest:
1a, 2d, 3d, 4a, 5a
1b, 2c, 3c, 4b, 5b
1c, 2b, 3b, 4c, 5c
1d, 2a, 3a, 4d, 5d

The key is we need to be honest about where we place eachother.

Take me for example, in Tier 2. What I know to be true:
Nex > Mag
Temp > Mag
Drillbit > Mag
EI = Mag

I would arrange it as follows.
tier 2 players: nexus, temper, drillbit eieio, magnus, goblin_tu, sneak, souless

Now, sneak/soul may know how they stack up against eachother as well as Nex/Temp. This would help us even further sort Tier2 based on skill.

I think if we all work together to place ourselves and help pick fair teams, thats our best chance of getting overall balanced gameplay.

This is only a rough draft and others may revise it as they see fit if so desire.

Also the captains can be ranked using the same system since there can be 8 teams of 5:

Captains: 5a(krix, tical) 5b (bib, cd) 5c (akinyle, turtlevan,) 5d (zildjian, drama)

We can all work together on player placement in that list.

For example, the list might start out as:
bruce,lenny,titan,wolv
nexus,temp,eieio,magnus
shok,inc

but may evolve to:
bruce,lenny
titan
wolv
nexus
temp
magnus,eieio
shok
inc

Where you see more than one person on the same line, it is assumed they are of equal skill, or it is unknown who is really the better player.

So, to make this sytem work, you need to figure out who is playing in the tourny.

During that time though, we can still work together to sort the known playerbase based on skill level. Then, when we know who is and isn't playing, we can simply remove players that do not want to participate.

Well I think everyone has to agree on the method though, I was just suggesting the idea of having a list of DM players from which captains can choose from.
The tourney is run and coordinated by all those involved including sushi, shok, Magnus, and others.

So it will be used if sushi, Shok, Magnus, and others all chose to use the method to rank the DM players.

How we make this tourney depends on everyone including sushi, shok, Magnus, and others.

For the captains picking team method, you first need to see who wants to be a captain.

Then, if those captains want to pick their teams, or would rather just have teams auto-generated based on assumed skill level.

A pro to picking teams is, captains can pick players they think they work together with.

A con is not all captains know the skill level of all players.

So, I think there are two things that you/all of us can actively be doing to help this happen.

1. Sort known DM'ers based on assumed skill level.
2. See who wants to be captain and if they want to pick teams or prefer auto-generated teams.

I'd be ok with whatever method the captains prefer.

Currently from the list, you have 6 teams. If the list expands, this can be changed, but from what we have right now:

Tier 1 and Tier 3 each have one extra player. The extra player who does not get picked gets to be an Alt. In the event that a team has a no-show player, they take that Alt and he becomes apart of the team (and the no-show player will be the new Alt for that tier).

Just do that until we have even numbers. And if the no-show is a tier 2, then they have to pick a lower Alt (and so forth as the sheet shifts)....so they get penalized at their own fault.
