  • Interested in hosting Mega TF server

Good morning, I'm the leader of a community called Team-BRH (Bar Room Heroes). We currently run a number of Valve-based games on our dedicated box. We were actually discussing running a Quake Mega TF server. I decided to look for current servers and don't actually see one running (other than CTF, DM, etc). I haven't dug around too much to look for the game files, but does anyone know if there are any current Mega TF servers? If not, would anyone be interested in playing on ours if I set one up? I grew up on dial-up Quake TF gaming and would love to give another crack at it on high-speed internet (TFC and TF2 just aren't the same). Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Team Fortress servers generally have been run on Quakeworld servers. There are some Mega TF servers around:

QuakeWorld Team Fortress Servers / QuakeServers.net

As far as the files go for setting up those servers, I'm not quite sure.

Probably would need to wait until Avirox or Lock N' Load see this thread for where and how to setup such a server.

Just a note: (Net)Quake and Quakeworld are different protocols, Quakeworld handling laggy connections and bad ping far better. The server browser here lists NQ servers, so the lack of a Mega TF server in the list more means that there isn't a NQ one. This community is rather NQ oriented versus, say, Quakeworld.nu that is very Quakeworld oriented.
Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

Thank you for the feedback. I'd be happy to host it on NQ if it is possible. Otherwise, I guess I'll hop over to the QW area to get more information.

The NQ version is not nearly as nice as the Quakeworld version.

This site may be the best source of Mega TF information (I found a forum for Mega TF):

Just an FYI, I've got a original TF server (Dallas, TX) up at : 69.162.82.210:27500

I'm still looking for MegaTF files, that site you gave me was "mega tf" coop or something. I made a post there. Thanks for your help.

I found an automated installer here: MegaTF - Getting Yourself Connected

I copied the files into my current server (using QuakeForge) and I started it up and the server has started. Unfortunately I did that on my lunch break and didn't test it. I'll test it tonight and hopefully I can get it going. It's a shame that the "biscuit" community just up and disconnected. I wouldn't mind getting a Q1 division going in my community.

I'd definitely be down if it was in NQ
