It's simple, this is a wall of text.It touches base on many subject's,all aimed and geared torwards sparking life into the NetQuake scene in 2010.My feelings are this, make enough noise, you are eventually heard. In 2010 I want to do more than make noise,I want to make shit happen.
I feel like the "Introduce yourself" thread has become quite watered down. A large portion of the community that participated in that sticky topic post , here at Quake Central forum, simply never stuck around. It was and is a brilliant idea on getting to know your fellow Quaker's and more than just how well they kick your ass,or how well you kick their asses. This game was intentionally created with an atmosphere and a particular, fast and frantic type gameplay that just simply isnt found now days in online first person shooters, and while im sure someone can suggest a better game in my opinion,as with im sure many others , Quake > Entire First Person Shooter genre.
Now that I have established that there is indeed a reason that any of you playing Q1 throughout 2009,whether you just returned, been playing, or are completely new (Kimp, anyone?) I look at ALL of you as brothers in arm's. It's not like I selected a handful of people to be 'uber cool quake buddies' with. If you ask anyone what kind of guy Mindz is, I like to think that 90% of you have good stuff to say about me,as my behaviour in-game and on these forums reflects directly on our community as a whole. Sure, we will say that in a years time, I have about 10 opportunities to make a newcomer or returning Q1 player, actually stay and play for pleasure in their leisure time. I refuse to accept only 9 newcomers/returning players out of 10 actually staying and playing longer than a week or 2,or a handful of months. There is tons of things we can all do,even the little things like offering suggestions to players when you see them in-game doing something that you figured out a long time ago,any types of game-tips, or invitations to other server's for good gaming elsewhere.
While I do my best to only bring my goodhalf to the table when its regaurding this 12+ year old game that I've been hooked on since day 1, sometimes I fail my fellow Quaker's.
Now, granted this is just a game and I've never met a Quaker in real life, I obviously have a special place in my heart for this game. That automatically means you NEWBS (haha,i<3yew! jks) have a place there as well,im some really weird way. SO GET OVER IT, mindz <3's all.
What im trying to say is this, it's really easy to place blame on characters like Kimp, or whoever the "most unliked player" is at any given moment, because whether any of you will admit it, this is TRUFAX. Various "winners" of "most unliked player" have been Mark, JJ , Rawkus , Zeal , Kimp.... So, in 2010 rather than running to the ,public mind you, quakeone forums, let's all make an effort to keep where we play clean and rather than "Lets get such and such banned" , make more effort to help people not be idiots for the sake of growing our community. I've tried speaking with kimp, whether he listens, the community bans him, successfully, I dont care. I'm here to help this community, not dumb it down. Looking forward to showing off some nice masterpeice video's of what our humble community has to offer in the way of online gaming.
