  • Travail won't vis

    I tried to vispatch the Travail maps yesterday, but it just didn't want to work. I am using the full vis program (the one that everyone says will take forever). Most of the Travail maps won't portalize�I drag and drop it over bsp2prt.exe and it just does nothing. Other times, it straight up crashes�"bsp2prt.exe has stopped working". Only 7 of the 19 maps actually gave me a .prt file.

    Halp?

    peg helped me out and told me about some tool LordHavoc made. I've been using it... seems like it's going to work. It's a really nice tool... it automatically goes through and does it. No more clicking and dragging

        travail vising

        hi there,
        the problem with travail revising is time. i tried to revis all travail maps two years ago and it worked with one exception - one of the secret maps in 2nd episode. that map contains only one place with water so it's not a big problem. i had no problems with creating prt files as well - i used tools form bengt jardrup's site. one level couldn't be revised because the vising process itself always failed.

        it took literally ages to revis some of travail maps; eg. the first two took about 200h each. it was like endless nightmare.

          200 hours of fullvis runtime is not really a surprise with such complex maps. Maybe you should try to use multi-thread vis tool.. it just requires multi-core computers: it should save time

            Hm... it's crapping out on some maps. It says *****ERROR**** leaf recursion. I already pm'd LH about it. Yes, it is hmap/

                multithread vising

                i wasn't surprised by the enormous time necessary for fullvising some travail maps. layout of the first three maps pushes q1 engine beyond the limits. i just wanted to try it. multithread was out of the question because i had an old crappy single-core cpu back than. and jpl - i wanted to beat your record in the longest fullvis anyway .

                i can upload the transparent water compatible version of travail somewhere... quaketastic.com probably. the unvised map is qte2m6 - but there are only a few places with water and you can use r_novis 1, if you have fast computer.

                  You managed to vispatch travail? That's awesome! hmap gives me errors on most of the maps (leaf recursion). If you could upload the vispatched travail maps, I would be very grateful.

                    upload completed

                    good news everyone, i have uploaded revised maps for travail to quaketastic.com. i couldn't upload whole travail because of the size limit, so i uploaded only map files. you have to open pak0.pak and manually replace the original bsp files with the new ones. my upload contains all travail maps; even the only unrevised one - qte2m6.bsp. that file remains the same as in original version of travail and still doesn't support transparent water. i've tried everything i know, but that level simply refused to cooperate.

                          i don't remember exactly which program i used pro creating the prt files; bspinfo.exe maybe... or bsp2prt.exe... it's been a while and i really don't know now. for vising process itself i used tyrann's rvis tool from his page: Disenchant.net.
