I quit hosting my Rquake server when Kong started his up and the powers that be switched the Rquake slot on the Quakeone Server Browser over to his (doesn't make much sense to host a server that isn't even going to be seen by 90% of the Quake community). Apparantly, that server went down, so we don't have a Rquake server now.

Unfortunately I'm away from home therefore I can't check this, but I believe Polarite runs an RQuake server at flanders.quake1.net (port 26001?) but this is in Belgium so you might have to contend with some challenging ping.
(Assuming one of these is not the one you were referring to Foq...) I think there was also one at quake.thisserversucks.com:26003, and at fragnation.quakeone.com

Yeah, Kong was hosting at fragnation. I remember playing on thisserversucks... it really did suck. Horrible, horrible lag.
You wouldn't want to play on my server right now anyway. My hard drive blew up and my replacement just got here, so I'm re-downloading everything I couldn't retrieve off my old drive... and I'm being impaitent, so I don't have a bandwidth cap on it right now.e|------------------------0---------------

My experience was a little different as when I tried the "tss" server from England it was a slightly better ping than Shmack. This may be solely down to server location and unfortunately I still sucked. I must say Turtlevan was very sporting and helped me compensate for the lag as much as he could by allowing me to suckle on the TV health teat throughout the levelsOriginally posted by the_f0qer View Post

It might be interesting to know which mods Baker has in his field of view for his Universal Server project. Personally, I would hope that RQuake, FFA, Painkeep, DMP and Runequake would be towards the top of that list.

Doesn't make much sense to keep a basketball around if it isn't going to be played with. Trujen, *coughGnter* , Trinicom , Anti-wall Hacks ,non-stop DM3,ignorant bafoons like Surfer Girl,IHH,and that other RQ guy thats utterly annoying and screams bot every 2 deaths,lack of communication (TRINICOM being extremely popular,the only stop for CTF action in Q1,gets abused and shuts down,tons of CTF'rs abandon Q1.TRU FACTS.Gunters actions, and countless other random "greedy" actions over the years have hammer + chissled the Quake community.Who knows,maybe trinicom got shut down because kimp got swoned and flooded the server's cuz he sucked,and not so long ago return'd to "do in" the rest of whats left.

When the Fragnation server came up, RocketGuy told me that was going to be the RQuake development server. So I switched it. It also had a really fat pipes.
Plenty of good servers aren't on the front page. So ... it goes on ping, popularity, uniqueness with development servers getting an automatic trump card.
Still, any server with 2 players on it always shows on the front page.
There isn't a good way to run the front page server browser. Every other month, some guy posts "My new server at 66.55.44.33" and I entirely ignore those since if someone isn't going to DNS a server I don't view it as a serious effort.
