Not so sure if this is really a confession, but it goes something like this.
I was about 10, i live in upstate ny, my family and i go to the city to visit some relatives of ours. My uncle was playing this game, called quake. And showed us some other stuff in quake where the player could use a can of beans to fart, which at the time was hillarious (this was painkeep :]), and then we caught a glimpse of team fortress. At 11, i remember my first computer. A shitty ibm cyrix 686. I got quake. I dont remember exact details, but for as long as i can remember, iv ebeen quaking...Quakeworld TeamFortress is the niche i took to, and it became a part of me. I look back at the 12 years that have passed since my beginning. Dialup, quake, irc, icq, etc... and all the things that have come since then. And the only game ive always kept regular tabs on for all that time has been quake. After the source was released, and custom engines started being released...i felt as if quake was reborn, the dying flame was reignited, even more intrest.
The point of this whole rant is...quake is so fckng nostalgic for me, i really really really love this game w/ a passion. It has a special place in my heart, and i dont think ill ever stop. Am i living in the past? Surely, you all here at quakeone.com will reassure me!
