  • proq with power-up binds + other features

    Hey, tried compiling the proq 4.44 source code with some things added, but seems like dshow.h is missing or something.





    The features added include:
    -weapons menu for binding weapons
    -aliases menu for binding aliases like quick shaft, rocket jump, etc
    -type "quadtime", "penttime", and "ringtime" in console to view time
    for next quad, pent, or ring (works by sounds)..you can bind some key to "quadtime" to see when the next quad is
    -added cvar "pq_timemsg" , so the time will appear after every message
    saying "You got..", that way you can time armors, weapons, etc, enable it by setting the cvar to "1"
    -added cvar "pq_autobind", which will say "Quad/Ring/Pent taken" when the sound plays when its taken, and also will give the next time it will spawn, in a team bind, and also "Quad/Ring/Pent over" when it runs out...to say it as a team bind set the cvar to "pq_autobind 1", for it to only show up on console as a echo type "pq_autobind 2"

    The qrack version doesn't have wepaon/alias binds menus, but

    I think the locations and other features of ProQuake are good enough. Adding a pent/quad timer is a bit too much and takes away from the game. Nice try though, Kimp.

      MP3 support in Windows requires DirectX 8.1 SDK available here:

        Most this crap was ported from proBR, a brazilian proquake variant (circa 2002) with auto messaging. A complete automated hack job of that quake society which is regarded as normal In game it becomes so much spam of mm2 that you end up ignoring everything your team says. I know there's a demo or youtube of this behavior somewhere... either way it's weak sauce.

        I strongly urge everyone to AVOID these builds; I do not support this Qrack version and do not trust the binaries (.exe) it provides.

          Hey Baker, do you know a guy who used to play Quake named Arutay? He made his own build of ProQuake back in the day that had the "q_version" (although it was more of a say the name Arutay thing) and it would spam the version. That was the first time I'd ever seen that.

          Guy had a hack built into his version that I found out about though. Hah.
