Those servers have been de-listed and MasterSplinter is no longer welcome in this forum. As far as I have ever been able to tell, his participation in the forum has solely existed to condone Kimp activities and incite dramatic threads.

That ship has sank; he can go with it.

I propose a word filter to change the words MasterSplinter and kimp to Asshat and assburgers, respectively.

Doesn't Ava's anti-kimp system work pretty well? Why not apply it to all other possible servers? Like I dunno if it's on Shmack or not.

I think to fix this problem you are going to have to change a few things about the community unfortunately.

1) Make the forums private. - You have to have an account to view them.

2) Make the account signup process manual. No more automatic account creations. - This makes a lot more work for the admins but you can better scrutinize new members and weed out fake aliases/junk names/emails/known IPs

3) All the server admins need to communicate better and use the same blacklist. Email each other when you update your ban list so the others can too.

4) Vote-kick implement on all servers. This is a scary one because if you give the power it will eventually be abused but maybe it will be used strictly for kimp at first and be enough to drive him away.



Good luck with it. He is obv never going to change and should be perma banned for life from all quake one sites/servers.

the isp reporting does make sense, i recall suggesting it to either ba or someone else b4... but was told it wasn't possible.

The only reason i say this is, even i was fooled and didn't see the "75" in his nickname.

I have fought him in ra b4 pretty sure it was him and was told he botted by him, and i didn't believe him and thought i could beat the machine but i lost every rnd... and game in that days games.

An his aim was very spot on... super high effs.... 40s/50s etc.

However, i don't fully understand splinters ban, however the forums i rarely use, often so it doesn't really concern me.

I never seen him fully promote anything, but i have seen him post silly videos or pictures in response to stuff.

Eitherway, i think the isp reporting would be a good idea as he's not just fucking with people in game, but is doing it on the forums as well, as a person to person manner out of game which is wrong.

Baker's committed to doing something about Kimp. I especially am grateful, because I have longed to see him and others recognise this about Kimp. Kimp has not only violated TOSs and the like; his hacking likely constitute felonies. It's my impression that an ISP takes severe and irrevocable action when any sort of criminal complaint has been made. If my suspicions are right, Kimp has a mental disorder, and it's probably good that law enforcement get involved. As a result of a complaint, perhaps Kimp would get a social worker. And if convicted, perhaps he'd be forbidden to own a computer and get probation with an order to see a counsellor. So the likely effect would be that he'd stop harassing the community, violating the law, and quite possibly get psychological help. Wouldn't that truly be a desirable outcome for everyone?

Its normally up to the server owner or person's computer that was attacked to file charges against someone who attacks them... isp's usually hold no responsibility over what people do, and if abuse is reported to the isp for whatever reasons, then the account will probably be deactivated until the person that was accused of abuse calls them and asks for them to reactivate it, plus i think its more of a civil claim for damages, not sure what the laws are for that.. but if you guys want to try that remember the legal system sucks. Best bet is vigilante justice, or passive measures to prevent things.

There is no absolute or ideal solution. Many here will be grateful for whatever steps you can take. Kimp isn't alone in appearing to be high functioning yet also potentially having much deeper issues:

I didn't think to record a demo, till, a little later, spoon was there earlier not sure if he was still there when i started to record a demo or not, as i haven't watched the demo yet.

However, notice in the demo how i am not typing yet i'm asking stupid questions? (that is kimp), who was playing by the name (book) or rather wasn't playing and was just asking dumb questions with my name while i tried to play quake.

I only recorded it, because it was starting to piss me off as he wasn't letting off, normally he'd stop or i suppose would get kicked before hand, but nobody kicked him nobody had fucking admin... and uh... yeah.
