    Secondly, I found the blood on Quake monsters to be ridiculous:
    They don't need to eat cause they're from another realm of existence, let alone another dimension. Physics don't apply to them; Shamblers, Grunts, Scrags and stuff are not even made of molecules or matter. (But rather something completely unknown)
    I thought of the blood being from previous victims (being digested or not) and the satanic symbols were put up by these deranged victims as warnings as these creatures seem so evil that they must be demons and hell spawn and that's why there are pentagrams and of the such.

    (not sure of that made sense cant think right atm)

      No, I'm not making a "Christian quake", "bloodless Quake" or whatever, I'm making real Quake, frickin Lovecraft (if any of you guys don't know who Lovecraft is, just stop playing Quake)

      Quake is beyond good or evil, evil is completely unrelated to it. Read some Lovecraft and you'll understand.

      As for the people who've trespassed into Quake eons ago? They're strung up on the walls (dm1); Quake monsters don't need to eat, don't need to sleep - they don't even have organs.

          I do agree the strung up images on DM1 look stupid.
          Pentagrams and such might as well be graffiti with gang symbols; just as silly.
          I think it wasnt so much of a LoveCraft influence as more like [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGwn_0k_TQo"]HEAVYMETAL[/ame]

          ID rushed the game out after trying to make a Hexen like RPG with Quake only to bastardize the story and the gfx. Quake seemed to me at the time, a tangent of Doom. In the early days MONSTERS were the norm. I like Q2's alien/mechanical influence more. I wasnt happy with q3 as it was more like a commercial mod than a full game.

            I want to make a Indian Quake, you play as Gandhi.
            Sound's awesome. Running around spreading peace, the demons will be deranged elephants that he tames through a process of waving a stick that produces flowers.

            Seriously, I'm making this.
            Maybe we can do a double mod pack "Religion Kicks Arse" and get inkub0 to do the cover!

                  I can see from the comments that most people don't know who H.P. Lovecraft actually is, and what Ranger is doing, to educate and entertain yourselves, please read this: At the Mountains of Madness

                  Let me also give a few key words here: Cthulhu Mythos, Necronomicon, the Great Old Ones, Shub-Niggurath (yes, iD took the name from here), humanity is insignificant, Ancient Ones merest thoughtless twitch would annihilate every trace of humanity, drive a person insane, the Elder Gods. That will give you a clearer picture of what Ranger is trying to create. It's obviously not about peace and love but ass kicking horror from ancient godlike entities that humans don't understand and know nothing about. I agree that the human symbols like pentagrams etc.. don't belong in a H.P. Lovecraft universe, since they are created by humans. It needs to go beyond that, much more insane and diabolic, absolute horror.

                  But no blood? There needs to be blood, and a lot of it!

                    Actually, I'm gonna have to disagree on this one:
                    • Quake is passive, they won't attack anything, except kill the occasional intruding sorcerer
                    • Pents and stuff were not human created - Evil is real
                    • Lovecraft - and by extension, Quake - didn't really have blood, it was mostly slime - which is plentiful in many levels

                      Quake as told by the Death Knight-
                      The dimension of Quake is an all-consuming realm where even gods and demons are manipulated. The threat of Quake has been alive and waiting for endless centeries. Every so often (a little more often recently, as our poor friend Quakeguy seems to notice) one of these manipulated gods, demons, demideities, warlords, whatever, decides it wants to invade a different realm and add it to Quake's territories. This is where Quakeguy steps in when he finds his military base overrun with undead creatures, thanks to the military's newest invention, the Slipgate which allows humans to travel interdimensionally. The denizens of Quake found this as not only a threat but an opportunity. Bam, we got a war. First to fall is C'thon and his minions. Then poor Quakeguy finds an even bigger threat in the midst; Shub'Niggurath and her plot to alter the very fabrics of reality using the 4 runestones of ancient magic. The fact that C'thon was guarding the first of these runes suggests that the denizens of Quake, although highly hostile toward each other, are in fact cooperating toward a greater goal.
                      Then we find Armagon, a cybertronic demigod warlord whose real intentions are somewhat unclear at the moment. All we know is he obviously doesn't like humans. Then theres the Dragon, who, as far as I know, is simply a dragon and wants to remain a dragon and doesn't need the help of any stupid humans to do so. Rawr, get outta my lair or you're barbeque. Next. Makkron, another cybernetic demigod warlord, this time from another planet. The motives here are pretty clear; invade earth, kill or conscript all humans into the Strogg workforce/military, move on to the next victim. Quake 3 didnt really have a plot, but lets assume that Xearo is yet another demideity manipulated by Quake's twisted influence into creating the arena games to weed out the universe's best champions.
                      Conclusion: Quake is not neutral. Quake is very much a diabolical presence bent on power and domination. The beasties that dwell within the realm of Quake or outside but still under Quake's insane manipulation, are not just there cause they want to be. They're there because they were chosen to be there. Another thing, Grunts, Enforcers and Rottweilers are not extradimensional beings. They are merely the husks of your former comrades risen and conscripted into service as watchdogs for the entries into the dimension of Quake. Zombies, Knights and Death Knights are the same thing, only they're likely from a different era of time.

                              Yes it did... when you gib someone it was always bloody.... and there is plenty of gibbing and chainsaw action going on.
