Shrak, Malice and Q!Zone

I've seen there are 3 expansion packs for Quake: Shrak, Malice and Q!Zone. Are they worthy to be played? People rarely talk about these expansions

I bought Shrak and Malice ages ago and I didn't like them. One of them is more or less ok, the other one really sucks. I never finished them.

I recently found the CDs and re-installed them. My opinion hasn't changed. Every SP map published at func_ these days is way better and more fun than Shrack and Malice are.

Dunno about Q!Zone.

Shrak was in my opinion garbage, the other two i only know by the name but never played them.

i have to agree with both previous posts. long time ago, i've read quite positive review of malice, but i haven't understood it. malice has ugly and boxy level design, models of the enemies/weapons are much worse in comparison with stock q1, textures are boring.... hands off! same goes for shrak. i've never heard of q!zone. i started with q1 in 1996 and i think it's not an exaggeration to say that i've played everything worth playing in singleplayer. if it had been good sp pack, i would have stumbled upon it already.

there are plenty of great packs - nehahra, soul of evil, travail, lost chapters, insomnia, abyss of pandemonium (to some extent), operation urth majik, beyond belief.. list goes on

I thought shrak was cool when i was a kid but that was just because i liked the sounds of guns and it was different from quake. I still have the CD, and it really isn't as good as many custom levels and mods out there.

Thanks for the info. I've played TONS of single player episodes. I remember when i was young an italian PC magazine often got many Quake stuff inside the cd, and I've discovered jewels like Beyond Belief, Abyss of Pandemonium (great but too short), Fantasy Quake (underrated TC, i enjoyed it a lot), Your Path Of Destruction (the Doom TC) and many others. Now is time to check Travail and Nehahra

No because it was a my recent discovery. After i finish Zerstorer (I'm on last level, i don't play it from more than 10 years, if I remember well here the quakeguy dies, right?) I'll try Nehahra.

Shrak is weird. Not worth it in my opinion.
Malice is pretty fun. Not very Quakey but a decent quirky old time FPS. Buggy too.
Q!Zone is very bad. Q2 (not Quake 2) is worse though iirc.
