QuakeOne.com today not only blew away the daily traffic record for this site (hit around QuakeCon 2010), but blew away the monthly traffic record for the site. It is our duty to use this traffic to further development goals of mods, engines, mapping interests and re-texturing interests. And we will be doing exactly that. Today this web site was accessed by more unique visitors than any day in the 4.6 years of history of the site.
This is probably a temporary announcement that will be removed from the news and to the general forum. This site is not about this site, this site is about serving the interests and the creativity of the Quake community and doing the best we can to promote said works.
Final tally: Back in early 2006 when this site was new, 300 unique visitors was the hallmark of an outstanding traffic day. Today we had one thousand, eight hundred and seven unique visitors -- this is an annual rate of nearly 700,000 new visitors per year and 2.5 million in total. In the United States, QuakeOne.com ranks in the top 50,000 web sites -- not too shabby for a 15-year old game. Whatever your favorite game is, we will outlive it. Whatever your favorite game is, we will outlast it. And in the end of this story, whatever your favorite game is --- we will rise to out-do it.
This is QuakeOne.com; the beginning of tomorrow starts here. I know it, you know it, we all know it. This site doesn't get big traffic because we are the end of a game --- we get big traffic because anyone that matters knows what we all know here -- every tomorrow begins with an understanding of how yesterday writes the future.
And the best days lie ahead. We all know this. That is why you are here. John Carmack and John Romero started a legacy; that legacy will be finished here.
Note: As a final homage to the great year that was 2010, I will outline why 2011 will be a far greater year by many orders of magnitude. Overstatement? Oh no, it sure as hell isn't. And that is why 2010 must close with a news post worthy of the total sum of works of 2010 and the consummate promise held by what is in store for 2011. We deserve no less than this.
