QuakeOne.com gets very strong traffic, especially for a 15 year old game. There are a lot of aspects of Quake. Some people like Quake as the single player game, a number of people like the graphics modification and yet others like the game for entirely different reasons.

Increasing the population playing on servers is not an easy challenge, it takes a lot of expertise to do well online and as this game is rather ping dependent and experience dependent I think the idea that casual players would play online is wrong.

The online component could be increased, this will require better clients and better servers and maybe bit of a social media component. And some of this is going to happen.

But a large component of online proficiency is aim and either you have that or you don't and it can't be taught.

Plus we are increasingly living in the age of laptops where someone may or may not really be suited to play online in the same way a desktop player is.
Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

pings not that big of an issue, i've been playing 200-400 range since it came out, if I didn't twitch every 2 seconds i'm sure my aiming would improve

Mark , when your viewing someone's profile there is a link that says "Befriend" and then the persons name, on the right side of the screen of someones profile, above their Friends List.

Click on someone's profile you play quake with, and find that link I speak of,and click the Befriend link, leave the check box send Friend Request checked and add friend!
