haha. It's 2011, and I ping 90-100 using the shittiest route imaginable for a "CENTRAL PLAYER" to enjoy a good ping on a "CENTRAL SERVER"

So, when I found out there's a NEW ctf server I was stoked until I found out its a 'same shit different day' situation.. Zero > Yayo

As I said in a different thread, getting the server through the exact same hosting as zero was a complete and ubber accident. I spent about an hour or two looking @ hosts.

However, if you remember FatPipes (A+++ hosting one of smoothest hosts I've ever played on), then you'll be glad to know that I put the order in today for not (1), but (2) servers.

One in Texas, one in Illinois.
(Dallas and Chicago).

Yayowave will just be redirected to the Chicago IP, and Yayotexas.quakeone.com will be the other DNS.

As for the current yayowave server, I'll probably GIVE it away

And before you ask, no, I don't have an i.p. for you to test yet, however, awaiting a response for the i.p. of each so everybody can check their hops before I actually put payment through.

Someone was mentioning the past popularity of CTF being fed by a public pickup server, something like MTOWN or HATING style. Use it for that?

One of the reasons I dont play DM matches all the time, is because I have to idle for one match to end, then hopefully get picked to play in the next. All i wanna do is just connect and play 10-20 minutes of fraggin then go watch tv, or eat, comeback and frag some more. Maybe turn it into an FFA DM server??

That would have been me It's not enough to just HAVE a type of server like that though. Hating and MTOWN did indeed FUEL the popularity of CTF. "Connect and Play" type Quake server's have always been popular for the most part. We should start moving away from these (waiting!) types of mods/servers for a better future. NO ONE opens quake, connects to a server, to fn wait or idle. OK,some do....but most of us demand pleasuring IMMEDIATELY!

I agree actually. When I start a new game and I'm always stuck waiting on players every time I join the live server it makes me wanna go find something else to do, or a new server to join.

I miss MTOWN terribly.

And Rook, of course me "giving away the server" would just be letting you do whatever you want with it. So as soon as I get these Fatpipes servers going, do what you do =) I'll keep the payment up, or get a 3rd server anyways because I'm not so keen on artofwarcentral servers.

Patience is a virtue guys, seriously . I understand the need/want for instant gratification but it just seems like we are taking a step backwards. Honestly your going to do what you want, and everyone knows how I feel about pub ctf. CRCTF till the death.
