  • Naustic's QRack Setup on Video

    The purpose of this video is to show you my everyday Qrack settings I use to play quake on the daily basis. With these settings, it's a brand new game! I can play competitively and still enjoy the eye candy!

    I'm using the following Quake engines and modifications:
    - Qrack 2.0.10 (Build 3299)
    - Rygel's 'Ultra' hi-res texture pack
    - MoonDrunk's Item Models (Bmodels)
    - Armour Models
    - Encrusted Axe Model
    - Plague's Steel Weapon Models
    - Telesplash 1; all other particle effects are 0
    - gl_texturemode "GL_LINEAR_MIPMAP_NEAREST"
    - vid_height 1080
    - cl_maxfps 400

    Recorded using Fraps. Be sure to watch it with 1080 HD Settings. It definitely looks better on Darkplaces, but I suspect it is not a preferred setting for playing competitively. Thoughts?

    You have the sharper wall textures for sure. I have the lighting modified way outa control on DP for the purpose of demoing/cooping.

    I'd like to see a clip of yours with all the QRACK effects enabled instead of regular quake style particles.

    Video looks good nausty, that is why you always rape at DM3 TG

      looks good Naus,
      Bling and speed, what more do you need for a competitive client?
      I run mine much like you shot here,but Qrack is capable of lots more bling that I use for watching demos... lights shadows transparrent
      water ect...
      I like the water caustics and teleporter swirl just a bit more in Qrack
      not because they look better but the flow is a bit smoother for me.

        I've spent some time experimenting with various graphic settings on Qrack with the goal of maintaining steady 400 fps. I've tried enabling different particle settings, but most seem to have negative impact on the graphic performance. I also like the transparency options for water and teleport, but unfortunately, that seems to drain about 200 fps.

          I tried to record this fast with a camera doesnt look 1/2 as good as fraps.

                  Nice. Wow, you've got every one of the particle options switched on. You play online with that? You must have a fast rig... unless that's just for demo playback.
