Scar3crow says that DarkPlaces dedicated can support up to 255 clients connected simultaneously which might be the answer to an interesting idea.
Something that was on the old to-do list (circa May 2005) was a group screenshot, something similar to this maybe: http://www.quakeone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94
Something I think would be cooler would be to set a date and time and invite any and everyone who wants to be involved to a massive group screenshot. This would certainly need capacity in excess of 32 players I would think.
Who would want to be in a massive group screenshot of every Quake player -- past and present -- that we could get ahold of?
If there is strong interest in this idea, I think we could find a server operator willing to setup a temporary server.
(Although it would be interesting to see exactly how many clients could actually connect regardless of how big the server's bandwidth capacity is).
Does doing a massive group screenshot on a server of as many Quake players as possible sound like an good idea?
