  • Quake Dodgeball Now Up!

    I have added the dodgeball mod to chicago.quakeone.com

    If you set your download depot to downloads.quake-1.com you should be good to go, if you don't have a client that does automatic downloading, you need to grab this file:

    Download Dodgeball


    Take the "dodgeball" folder inside the .zip, place it in your Quake folder, right click your Quake client and go down to properties, click that. Then add -game dodgeball to the end of your command line, so it would look something like this:
    C:\Quake\wqpro.exe -game dodgeball

    :: Description ::

    This isn't your typical dodgeball mod. There are a lot of different ways
    and strategies to be victorious! You will find that your power throw and
    special dodgeballs will ultimately come in handy. Critical hits and headshots
    will help you in the best of times. You have the choice of gold or green and
    the match will start upon using impulse 18.

    :: Rules ::

    Take out the entire opposite team. Once everyone is in prison, the match is
    over and a new one starts!


    :: Damages ::


    LEGEND:
    (**) - Critical Damage
    [**] - Critical Hit Chance
    {**} - Headshot Damage (Power Ball only)
    {(**)} - Headshot Critical (Power Ball only)

    Normal Ball - 10-25 (30-75) [5%]

    Normal Ball + Sprint - 25-45 (75-135) [10%]

    Power Ball - 40-50 (120-150) [15%] {80-100} {(240-300)}

    Power Ball + Sprint - 75-100 (225-300) [25%] {150-200} {(450-600)}


    Special balls have no critical hit.

    Ice Ball - 10, freezes enemy for 3 seconds

    Fire Ball - 10, burns enemy for 10 seconds, burning does 10 damage per second

    Bomb Ball - 160, just explodes on impact within a big radius

    Homing Ball - 50, chases enemy for 10 seconds before exploding



    ::Commands::

    impulse 15 - Catches a dodgeball(only regular ones).
    impulse 16 - Power throw. You can only use it each 20 seconds.
    impulse 17 - Sprinting(requires stamina which is displayed on your ammo HUD).
    impulse 18 - Starts the match.
    impulse 100 - Add a bot on the Gold Team.
    impulse 101 - Add a bot on the Green Team.
    impulse 102 - Kick a bot on the Gold Team.
    impulse 103 - Kick a bot on the Green Team.


    Deathmatch 2 - Enables special balls(enables saving prisoners on classic mode).

    Scratch1 - Sets the amount of dodgeballs(maximum of 10 balls).

    temp1 - If set to 1, game will play on classic one-hit kill mode. Note that there will be no special balls on this mode, even when deathmatch is set to 2. Deathmatch 2 will enable saving prisoners instead. Power throws won't work too, but sprinting is still there.


    ::NOTE::

    bots will only work if you set up a darkplaces server!

    Added missing 24-bit textures to certain models.
    Three new maps by negke: dbbase, dbcastle, and dbvault.
    Renamed models/sounds for better universal server compatibility.
    Bots will no longer go after flying balls
    Added a very special new ball
    You can now save teammates from prison by catching the ball with deathmatch 2, temp1 1

        So far, DirectQ autodownload is working with it for me.
        MrsMindz Qrack autodownload isnt,dunno why,DirectQ dont even load for Mrs,thinks need DirectX updates.

          just played, but I noticed deathmatch wasn't set to 2 and there was only 1 dodgeball spawning. a vote mode should be considered for these...even if possible for scratch1 and temp1.

                sprinting doesn't seem to work at all, me and Orion were just testing the server

                  I've (temporarily)worked out my method to the madness. Leap into the dividing barrier, and proceed to strafe bunny hop to avoid being a easy target!

                    Looks great! I personally think they should add "gibbed heads" as a one time ball. If you headshot someone their head will go flying and then be able to be used as a ball a single time (bursts into blood in impact).

                      Hmm. Just as in classic dodgeball, this mod needs to give a player the ability to "catch" a ball being thrown at him which would make the player who threw the ball "out", or give him damage or whatnot.

                              Yayotexas isn't a DM server right now, and Fatpipes is having some stupid issue so I don't think people can even connect. As well, if you connect to yayowave.quakeone.com and it's DM, you just need to change mode to practice, then match, and it will be 3wave again. R00k has been kind enough to allow a vote to DM at yayowave.quakeone.com by typing "crmod" in the console, but there's no "threewave" command thus why it need be switched to practice, then match.

                              I thought for sure I had chicago.quakeone.com set to deathmatch 2 via rcon however when I get a moment I will double check. Also be sure to check replies on the news post about dodgeball for demos/problems we've ran into if you haven't already.

                              On another note, I've moved cities and won't have the internet for a bit (yes, another move), so I'll be hard to get ahold of fast, unless you ask Rambo or Vis to text me.

                              Contact R00k for any yayowave or dodgeball server issues as he has access to both servers.
