Sorry for this late reply.

I assume, that you used world textures from Rygel�s "HIGH" pack until now.
Now you tried QRP�s V1.00 world textures and have a negative fps impact, right ?

I think that I can help you here.


If you compare Rygel�s "HIGH" with QRP�s V1.00 textures, you will see that QRP�s
many times have a bigger resolution (and therefore more MB).
This is the reason why you encounter a negative fps impact.

What I suggest to do is the following:
Please use QRP�s world texture pack BEFORE V1.00: Use the one from 2007.
Together with QRP�s normal for these world textures from december 2009.

That is exactly the condition we all had, before the final QRP V1.00 release saw the light of day in december 2010.

And let me tell you this:
This condition is compared to Rygel�s "HIGH" pack (that you actually use) much better.
It has NO negative fps impact and has all the beauty of My-Keys amazing normals.

So, if you cannot afford to use QRP�s V1.00 (due to your hardware), please use their previous version.


I compared almost every single texture from QRP�s V1.00 with their previous release and found,
that around 20% of them have a double resolution in V1.00 (= 4 times more pixel)
Hell, some single textures even have 12 MB !! in V1.00

I personally use a mixture of QRP�s V1.00, their previous release and some Rygels "High" ones.
The very high resolution ones (with lots of MB) I simply scaled down 50%. That is enough for me.


If you dont want to spend much time on this topic, I suggest you use the already finish world-texture-mix from inkub0:
He used the amazing normals from My-Key (QRP) (from previous 2009 release) and mixed some Rygel�s + QRP�s diffuse textures (from previous release as well).
So, in this case all you need is download the pack from here.
inkub0 called it "New Texture Mix". I uploaded it to rapidshare (which will give you very fast download)

As you already confirmed in your above post:
QRP�s are simply BETTER (all versions) and should therefore be used.

That is all I wanted to say.

I suposed the fps impact was because of higher resolutions..
I'll test inkub0's texture mix then!
